Rain delays bring out the best in all of us

What do in-state college baseball rivals do when there's a rain delay? Two words: dance off.

The April 3 college baseball game between the University of Southern Mississippi and University of Mississippi encountered a rain delay. Since the players had a little free time on their hands, they start a dance off as well as perform various skits. (SLYT)

Loved the roller coaster one. The bowling is an oldie but goodie. I am with Jessamyn, love the rain delay antics.

I love baseball. Things like this video just bring happy tears to my eyes. I loved the dance-off, I loved the rescue (although I would have been tempted to slip-and-slide on the tarp), I loved the big-ass grins on their faces.

In my next life I would like to spend my youth playing ball instead of reading so much (well, at least strike a balance). Now, I just get to be an observer, armchair manager, fantasy baseball manager, and fan. I would watch anything from little leaguers to pick-up games at the local ballpark, professional, college, kids messing around with a bat and a ball. There is no sound sweeter than the first crack of the bat on a cool spring morning.

If I got to make the rules, sufficiently rain delayed games would be decided by a dance off rather than being rescheduled. Professional teams would be forced to draft players who were skilled on both the field and the dance floor. That's the world I want to live in.

Baseball would be a lot more interesting if more games were settled this way.

Wow, 2 guys can do backflips? There goes my feeling that guys standing around waiting to catch something aren't really that athletic. Also, most of those dudes were better dancers than any guy I knew in college.

We must not be watching the same game.

With Opening day around the corner (tomorrow), I have to say, THIS is the way to improve MLB; at least from a spectator's perspective.

That was great. I need to be more silly.

Are there a set of these that all college baseball players know, that are passed on like summer camp dining hall songs?
