Nymbus the Swimming Cat: [SLYT].

This post was deleted for the following reason: I'm glad that cat was okay with swimming across that kiddie pool but this does seem like reaaaaally thin for a post. -- cortex

Wait -- can't all cats swim? Isn't Nymbus just the cat that Won't Claw Your Eyes Out After You Throw Him Into a Pool?

I'm just glad to see that Anderson Cooper is tackling those big issues, you know: can cats swim in a giant pool with Anderson plastered on the front.

Nymbus: OK. I can do this. Just get to the other side. Very concerned.

What? No! Fffffffuuuuuuuuuu let me out, damn it, don't turn me around. I am so going to poop in your bed tonight.

I see your not very unusual swimming cat, and raise you one scuba diving cat.

Yeah, there's nothing extraordinary about a cat that can swim. Most cats can swim. You just don't see them doing it very often because most cats don't like swimming. But there are exceptions even to that. There's even an entire breed, the Turkish Van, that's known for enjoying the water. Supposedly they swim out to greet the fishing boats on the Black Sea.

That does not look like a happy kitty to me. Admittedly, perhaps when it's at home in a familiar environment it enjoys swimming, but the whole "has to be dropped into the pool" thing does not look promising. I do not approve of making pets do things that they clearly do not enjoy when there's no real benefit to the animal or the household - pictures of miserable pets in funny costumes always get me down.

Bah. My cat knows how to get out of the water- attach himself to me. With all his claws at once.

The look in the cat's eyes was one of sheer "Oh no"

Indeed. His eyes said "oh shit ohshitohshitohshitohshit" and then on the attempted return "nowaynowaynoway"
