Death Grips (previously) are back, with a major-label contract to boot. Following up on last year's highly-regarded Exmilitary mixtape, The Money Store is scheduled for official release on April 24th. In the meantime, enjoy these two new videos (probably NSFW): Get Got / The Fever (Aye Aye)

Love these guys.
Local boys done good and I hear they crushed at Coachella yesterday.

hell yeah death grips. one of my favorite bands right now.

more cool stuff from these guys:

wired story and interview about their videos

one of their first gigs [low end theory in LA... was a crazy good time]

lost boys (practice) which shows you how insane zach hill is as a drummer.

and stems to the entirety of exmilitary which are fun to listen to on their own, as well as remix.

OH OH OH AND I FORGOT ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT TOTALLY WARRANTS ALLCAPS AWESOMENESS:

retrograde the band's insane "infinite sampler" comprised of 109 GIFs.

---
they opened for refused the other night.
if i hadn't waited almost a decade to see the headliners, i could've left happily after the openers. see these guys live. it is the real thing.

I was able to recognize that there's something real compelling about Exmilitary, but I can't listen to it very often. I'm just not angry enough.

INSTANT FAN. Sadly, I don't go in for rap much but lately I've been turned on to Immortal Technique and now this from metafilter. Me likey.

Never heard of these guys before. Also Instant Fan after the first thing I listened to was Full Moon. Wow. It's like Somebody from Goodie M.O.B., Nine Inch Nails and Disposable Heroes of HipHoprisy rolled into one and smoked by El-P. That Full Moon video is one of the best videos I've seen in the last 10 years.

Talk about finding your own lane. I don't know how I missed Filthy Light Thief's previous post, but boy am I sorry I did.

for you impatient types: a friend's-uncle's-orthodontist told me that the new album leaked... or so i've heard, maybe.

BTW, if you like Death Grips and somehow aren't familiar with dälek, I strongly recommend checking them out.

Hmm. I dunno. On the one hand, there is The Death Set, which is musically much more involved in the hip-hop space this wants to be in. On the other hand is this guy, and he has only a click-ballpoint pen to back him up... both on rhythm and with what he's got to say.

Every now and again, I get the feeling that rap is about to break out into something larger than itself, to transcend its own genre into something essential and urgent. Beastie's Paul's Boutique. L.L. Cool Jay's Momma Said Knock You Out. Blackalicious, Deltron 3030.

Dondada wastes a lot of his talent playing up his gangster bonifides. When he drops the pretense, and asks God why he should believe... and God answers...

I believe in Rap again.

I guess it's also worth mentioning that the vinyl release will be available a few days early (4/21) as part of National Record Store Day.

This guy TOTALLY sounds like "Special Ed," the guy from Crank Yankers who calls up the movie theater and keeps saying "yay I can bring both of my friends!" This could wind up being number one with a bullet (a bullet!). When I first heard Can't Nobody Hold Me Down by Puff Daddy, I thought Puff and Mase were seriously cognitively impaired.

I feel confident that Stefan Burnett is far more intelligent than you have just shown yourself to be.

After coming down from the Full Moon high and chasing that, The Fever is a good...I don't know the drug lingo here, help me out.
