It's a Bernini sculpture of a goal

Hockey highlights with soccer announcers. Come for the highlights, stay for the Scottish broadcaster's analogies.

Totally unrealistic- did one of the scoring players have "Heskey" on the back of his jersey? That's something that would never happen in football.

Is the Scottish 'bernini sculpture' guy at the end addressing a commentator named Pablo? Seriously, you've got Fergus for play-by-play and Pablo for color commentary? That is awesome.

I have to disagree with that announcer that a Templar Knight is better than a Jedi Knight. At least, in a fight I would have to back to guy with the laser sword and magical powers.

That's Ray Hudson for you.

Actually, the reverse is quite entertaining as well- I watch EPL football at a bar in Toronto, and occasionally someone will involuntarily blurt out "shoots...SCORES!" at a particularly exciting moment.

I haven't even watched the thing yet and I knew you were talking about Ray Hudson. (who is from Newcastle, by the way.) He is the dopest.

Dear CBC, please do this for real.

I think soccer/footie would be way more popular in the US if they had announcers like this.

Hell, I think HOCKEY would be way more popular.

I thought that was a Geordie accent, not a Scots. Not bad for a Yank.

Is it sad that my familiarity with Ant and Dec is likely the cause of this?

Clearly, NHL broadcasts lack Scottish brogues.

There's only one word for that: magic hockey.

Ray Hudson is based in the US and is the color man for MLS, European, and international matches on Gol TV. He came to America in the late 70's to play on the NASL Fort Lauderdale Strikers, and has coached the MLS Miami Fusion and DC United. He's always been liberal with his adjectives and adverbs.

Dear CBC, please do this for real.

I've seen a couple of (hockey) games on TV where they've had the "GOOOOOAL!" guy guest announcing, and it's as a amusing as you'd think.

Also, it was really great how closely the calls ended up matching the plays.

I don't know if I love or hate the guy squawking like a pterodactyl after the Edmonton/Dallas fiasco, though. (about 4 minutes in)

I just dropped in to call hockey Canadian ice soccer, so, this kind of makes sense to me on its face. However, I haven't listened yet.

The "header" is my favorite part.
