Springing into redesign
Orbiting has been redesigned for Spring, and I've seen a couple of others. Have y'all seen any other good ones (besides Derek's, which is fantastic)?

Matt's own redesign is looking ace. I really mean it.It's all much neater - what with the main content cell being wider and easier to read, the navbar being a good aesthetic addition (nice rounded corners) plus a much much improved MetaFilter trailbar on the right.Matt - why don't you like it yourself? - it's a fantastic redesign.

Will, what I don't like about my new design is that it's a bit too busy, there's nothing "anchoring" the design. In the mockups, the bar along the bottom did that pretty well, but the real page is too long to show it. I have an idea of what might tie everything together again, and I'll probably update the design in the next couple of days.

Was orbiting.org always orange or did they also hop on the bandwagon?

jeez, I didn't mean to start a trend

hey up!
Riothero's new design appears to show that he's about to go orange. Anything to stop the plagiarising of Jason's work.

Nope, I hopped on the bandwagon. It was green before.

I was trying for a different orange, though. Prolific posted that I had managed to make it look like a Penguin book. I can't figure out if that was an insult.

I like orange.

No, not an insult. I like Penguin books. :-)

The orange mantra goes on [sorry for the pop-up; the italian nic is taking 3 months to complete my domain registration].

Personally, I don't mind this orange fever, like matt's redesign, think powazek's is very airy and classy, just a bit impersonal, was pleasantly surprised by orbiting (first time there) and am just waiting kottke.org to virate the yellow zoom box design to orange...

I guess I'm waaaay ahead of everyone (or waaaay behind everyone) with the brown brown brown look...

All this orange is getting me a bit concerned.

I was thinking... green.

I love green. Makes me think of growing things.... Does anyone know the "aura" of orange? I was thinking that you could probably predict the effect that a blog will have on a viewer according to its color (a la: red causing anger, blue causing a calm feeling, yellow causing happiness...you get the picture). Do the studies of room colors apply here? If so, it might change the way that people design. You'd change the color of your blog according to the affect you want to have on people. (Whew. That was kind of long.)
