I really like these; thanks! And I have a friend who looks just like Dostoyevsky, it turns out.

A modern-day master, imo. fyi, I clicked on his face and it goes to collections of some of his color work (scroll down). The work on the Scenes page is very Arthur Rackham.

So I guess Johnson's work would be in the clear line tradition, a la Herge?
