The QI Zoo is a delightful collection of animated and educational gifs about animals and their quirks.

I love this so much. It's a really novel use of the GIF and very well done. I want to see more 1-panel comic GIFs!

I can't believe that QI has qi.com.

I was going to say the same thing. I want to know more about the study where they humiliated cows.

They humiliated the cows by having the sheep roll across the cattle grids which were stymieing them.

Well...it's pretty selective fact picking, just looking at the first page:

Geese mourn their dead. (Most species of geese form long-term monogamous relationships, not all 'widowed' geese will select a new mate. This as been interpreted as mourning by Qi Zoo).

Sheep have learned to roll over cattle grids. (A flock of sheep in England has been observed rolling over a cattle grid).

Sailors once mistook manatees for mermaids. (It would have been a lot more fun if they noted it was Christopher Columbus).

An ostrich running backwards has legs like a human. (Weeelll, I suppose it looks that way on first glance but what we think looks like a knee on an ostrich is actually its ankle so no, not like a human at all).

Rabbits eat 80% of their own droppings. (Cecotropes are not feces, although they do exit from the rabbit's butt.)

The artist who does these wacky gifs has his own site, where (if you go to Page 2 and scroll down), he had previous put on display various imaginative pop-culture 'mashup' pieces (many in animated 'neon' format). I hope somebody pays him to do more of these.

according to QI.com 'PETA, the fundamentalist US animal rights group, claims that cows can suffer from humiliation if people laugh at them. '

which apparently traces back to the PETA caseworker Amy Rhodes vs. Florida Southern College's Cow Bingo brouhaha, q.v.

I think it was Dr Ben Goldacre who raised this point about the show, on the show.

How do wombats poo cubes? This woman isn't sure, and her homemade wombat digestive tract didn't really help.

Also, our feet don't point backwards, so not like a human at all.

This reminds me of a special fact from QI: the theme from Top Gear is named Jessica.

According to Stephen Fry, this is the most interesting fact in the world.

Er, yes, it's a famous instrumental by the Allman Brothers. That's not really a special fact, is it? Or am I missing something.
