And now, the story of Cylons who have a plan to take the sky from YOU

Credits mashups or remixes are a Youtube meme with a simple concept: create a intro sequence for one show using the music and style of another show's credits. Some drastically change the story or tone of a series, some play up similarities between two shows, some provide a more glossy intro for shows that originally relied on a title card or an unpopular credits sequence, and some just seem to happen because people really like "Ballad of Serenity." posted by kagredon (32 comments total) 47 users marked this as a favorite

That Doctor Who/Parks and Rec one is delightful. Love the shot for the Daleks.

Star Wars (MacGyver) is everything I'd hope for in a television series.

Apologies if I missed it in the links, but the mid-90s New Zealand-filmed network fantasy series Game of Thrones is amazing.

The ones where I don't know the original show the theme tune comes from seem just fine to me, but the ones where I do are SO SO WRONG. So that suggests that the song is making my brain transfer some of the other characteristics of the theme song show to the one in the images. For instance, watching the Star Wars/MacGyver one, I couldn't imagine Star Wars as an epic movie at all, but was thinking of it as a new show in weekly half hour form, like "the adventures of Luke Skywalker" building bombs and things out of paper clips in order to escape risky situations in the Star Wars universe.

It's all weird and it makes my brain hurt.

The weird part for me was Luke holding a gun in those sequences. Everybody knows that Luke MacGuywalker doesn't like guns!

Oh, man, I can watch ANYTHING set to The Office's theme song. It really is a great theme song. I hope whoever wrote that is proud.

The Hannibal/Arrested Development one is absolutely perfect. The LOST/BayWatch one is simply inspired.

I have the most incredible urge to make the Buffy theme my alarm clock sound now.

I spent the first two years of college waking up to the Cowboy Bebop theme song. It was.... amazing.

I never realized before how much Cowboy Bebop and The Venture Bros. have the same intro sequence.

I vaguely recall a fansub group replacing the soundtrack to a Fullmetal Alchemist opening with a Naruto one (and probably vice versa), likely as a commentary about how standard these songs seem to be.

I can't find that one, so I'll share my favorite, a 4-fer: Evangelion, Nadia, and Gunbuster done in the style of Busou Renkin.

cthuljew: Battlestar Galactica/Star Trek: Deep Space Nine "

Having just finished Deep Space Nine... I really wish I had watched that instead

Am I missing something here? The title seems to indicate a Battlestar Galactica/Firefly mashup, but none of the links have that...

I did think of putting this in, but ultimately decided against it because even though I like that vid, I was trying to avoid examples that kept the original style and just overlaid a different song (not that I totally succeeded, but yeah.)

I had no idea this was a whole thing! Years ago I saw Star Wars (Magnum, P.I.) and was inspired to make this: Star Wars (Golden Girls)

I felt the Voyager/Gilligan's Island conflation was inspired, but Harry Kim really needed to be MaryAnne.

Some of those are so clever! I am actually really impressed with the quality, especially the Hannibal one.

Now I want to see Greatest American Hero Intro mixed in to something else. Dr. Who perhaps.
Oh, Samari Jack's intro would be a fun one to apply to other series.

I find it interesting how often Firefly and Cowboy Bebop come up there; They both had such great, iconic intros.

My all time favorite: Star Trek: The Next Generation (Dallas)

One thing the Dallas imitators never seem to get right: The left and right panels always stop moving while the middle one keeps going.

Yes, I was an avid Dallas fan while growing up in the titular city, why do you ask?

Aaarrgghh, yes! The lack of proper panel motion drives me crazy on those Dallas mashups!

I'll have you know I watched that Dallas/TNG mashup and had the Dallas theme song in my head for a week.

Shit, it's back.

You can go jump in the lake, fireoyster.
