Hayden Thorpe and Jon Hopkins cover Q Lazzarus' Goodbye Horses. The cover will be paired with the original song, which is being reissued. More on the mystery diva, Q Lazzarus.

Here is her appearance in Philadelphia. Great song. Love the mystery.

I wonder what it must be like to have your song forever linked with such an iconic and disturbing movie scene.

"Goodbye Horses", I mean. not the one maggieb linked to.

It's funny how linked that music is with that scene. Even in Clerks 2, all Jay has to do is hear the opening beats and he knows what to do. Now yeah, I know that's the script, but that's pretty much my reaction every time I hear the opening bars, too.

Beautiful, I just bought it.

Uh, with the standard caveat that I'm not a nice person ... prior to Clerks 2, whenever random guys would try to chat me up on Yahoo! Voice, I would let them go on, pitching up my voice higher, but I would put that song (Married to the Mob soundtrack) playing in the background, steadily increasing in volume. Always good for laughs.

I'm rather fond of this cover if it actually counts as one.

This is so weird! This is the second time I've heard this song today (I can't remember the other version but it was much more racuous and angsty for sure). I don't think I've heard it since the last time I saw Silence of the Lambs (which was about six months ago...on a HDTV...do NOT recommend).

At any rate, this version is beautiful. I have a feeling I'll be hearing this more than twice tomorrow.

MeFi's own Brad Sucks has covered Goodbye Horses (mp3 download on his blog).

Oh, of course! It was yesterday's selection from Pronoiac's Start to Finish blog (which I downloaded this morning). If you haven't checked out Start to Finish, you really must...it is made of the musical excellence of MeFites.

Just to get it out of the way:

"Would you fuck me? I'd fuck me. I'd fuck me SOOO HARD."

I wouldn't fuck me. Believe me, I tried and I was SOOOOO lousy, I snuck out before I woke up.

iamkimiam- maybe you heard Psyche's cover of the song, recently reissued by Optimo's label?

I'm currently listening to this playlist of covers. Holy cow are there a lot. Not as many as Love Will Tear Us Apart but still!

I thought this was going to be about Minecraft.

No, thank you for that cover, frenetic! (And thanks for the plug, iamkimiam!)

I listened to it a few times before I put it on the podcast, marvelling at how it's both magnificently beautiful and creepy, and that I can't tell if the creepiness is in my head or not.
