I was going to say that of course it had to end up devolving into twerking at some point. But then I stopped to wonder if it would be devolving. Doing splits on trees - is that further along than twerking? What would a taxonomy of dance show? Taking into account theories like punctuated equilibrium, did splits on trees come about now after an extended period of stable twerking? Because it is entirely possible that twerking just experienced more popularity before doing splits on trees even though doing splits on trees was first. Hmm. Perhaps the greater revelation is that the common ancestor of both dances must have flourished and spread in previous generations where the common belief was that we liked big butts and could not lie. Somewhere, Charles Darwin has one leg up, one leg up.

Splits on trees is so yesterday. Planking with both dogs barkin' is the new splits on trees.

It is stupid. Stupid like a fox!

It is so stupid it emerges from the other side into a sort of glorious commitment to one dumb thing.

Man, I was totally going to post this a few days ago after the Disney Princes Boy Band post (video produced by the same guy), but I was like, "Naw, I am too ashamed to admit that I love #splitsontrees." I clearly need to get over myself.

This is my first encounter with #splitsontrees, from the same guy.
