Brandan Odums makes important and beautiful art in the ruins of New Orleans's 9th Ward

Odums, a New Orleans native and the founder of 2 Cent, is painting historic civil rights figures on the walls of the abandoned ruins of the Florida public housing complex in the 9th Ward. The results are amazing, but officially off limits to the viewing public.

I enjoyed his interview in NOLA DEFENDER.

As for "off limits to the viewing public", Odums' photo of the doors and windows sealed by HANO tells most of the tale. I'm sure they had to do it for insurance purposes but it still sucks.
