Shrek is Dreck.

Mouth, a cover of Smash Mouth's "All Star" by Internet legend Neil Cicierega, might just lead you into a world of hidden Shreks...

Shrek Does Some Stuff [nsfw].
Shrek's Deep, Thought Provoking Journey.
Shrek it Ralph..
Sherk and Sherk 2: Eletric Bugloo.
Dark Ogrelord [nsfw].
Shrek: the Final Layer.
Shrek gets Spooked.

Just try and remember: Shrek is NOT Dreck [nsfw].

Another benchmark Shrek semi-meme, "Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life", has not been included here because it is Not Safe For Life and should not be seen by anybody. I am merely noting that it exists.

Um. I deny everything.

(It was actually by recording that that I was introduced to the YouTube Shrek community.)

Man, I've gotta make sure my 11-year-old son doesn't find this. It would be on perpetual loop at our house if he did.

OK, the perfect time to ask: There was an FPP about a video artist who specialized in visual ... fractally-repeating images with psychodelic colors and distortions.

Can anyone boost me the name?

I'm guessing you're thinking of Cyriak - I was immediately reminded of his work, at least. There's quite a few posts featuring him.

Only my inborn decency kept me from replying to this with a link to the Infinite Hasselhoff Recursion.

Dada was born too early, once we get more computer generated artforms we can REALLY gum up and destory culture with endless nonsense.

Is culture not destroyed yet? Every time I look at pop culture or at counter-culture or at really any kind of a culture that anybody knows well enough to classify as a culture it feels like I'm looking at a civilization just sorta pretending it hasn't been sacked by the barbarians yet.

Well, did I or did I not share the Shrek universe to MetaFilter? You may draw your own conclusions from there.

I really, really like this.

Was it Neil Cicierega, who, funnily enough, made this video?

I think the thing that made all these possible is the existence of this SFM-ready character model of Shrek.

Just remember it was the Romans that liked gladiatorial games, eating until you vomited (and then ate more) and orgies while the barbarians brought us stuff like cathedrals, agrarian feudalism, and chanting monks. So you decide, has the internet made us more Roman or Barbarian?
