Content aware typography. A software algorithm transmutes a mix of familiar and classic graphics and logos into something else altogether.

Whoa. This is like when you try to read something in a dream and the text goes all fucky.

Anyone know what "Adobe's Content-aware-fill" is usually used for?

Yes, please.

It looks like a nice example of inpainting. Adobe™'s content aware is really quite good at inpainting textures and structure that is present in the same image. It gets progressively more interesting when you include a larger range of input samples.

These are so fun!

I love playing with content aware fill in ways it wasn't meant to be used. I've used it for two album covers I've designed so far.

Ooh, I wanna try!

Keep calm and content aware!

Some of these are true art.

Cool.

Though I was hoping this was going to be a page where the font dynamically adjusted depending on the textual content of what you were typing, which would be cool too.

Content aware typography: Buy a Metafilter T shirt.

charlie don't surf: I'd wear it.

(It's like a tackier version of camo! You could stand in front of a web site and nobody would be able to see you!)

God, so many of these are just like weepingly beautiful. And i can't even explain why.

It's like the ultimate desktop background generator, and more. I'd hang prints of some of these on my wall.

moonmilk, the Nancy one is amazing! You should start a Content Aware Comics tumblr, it works really well.
posted by oulipian at 12:09 PM on December 20, 2013

That's a great idea, oulipian, but I'm way too lazy to do it, so I hope someone else runs with it.

Gah, anyone else find these to be creepy and unsettling? As Metroid Baby mentioned above, there's something very dreamlike about these. You can recognizable the words and shapes, but there's just something wrong about them.

Next step: submit to Spoonflower so I can redo my couch in context-aware-filled "Oh, the Places You'll Go"

Content Aware Comics: Nancy and Fritzi

These are higher rez so zoom in.

Yeah I am going to have to play with content aware fill a LOT. I need to read the math papers on how this algorithm is implemented.
