Isn't that what playdough is for?

It is cute, but it just solidifies the downfall of journalism in the NYTimes. Love the Ikea riff as I just put together all sorts of Ikea for daughter's college apartment.

Hardly... the Times has had non-journalism in its pages for decades, and Christoph Niemann is lightyears from the worst offender.

Also, this is adorable and terrific. The Apple beach ball is my favorite.

I liked the forgiveness panel, although I am sure no lessons were learned.

"it just solidifies the downfall of journalism in the NYTimes."

For some reason, when I read that, I could only hear it in a Monty Python voice... "Come and see the violence inherited in the system!"

BTW, love the dough art. Very well executed.

Put down the cat and take care of the howling dog before he loses all his sprinkles!

Oh, wait. That's a chair.

I saw it as a dog the first time, too, which made the forgiveness panel awful because the dog was still bleeding sprinkles and uncomforted. Then I saw it was a chair and was delighted.

Yes, I thought it was a tiger and a giraffe. Then I was like, "why is he favoring the tiger?? oh. it's a sofa." But I bet the cat imagined it was a tiger attacking a helpless giraffe.

I, too, assumed it was a dog... barfing up something it wasn't supposed to eat. Not that that is happening in my life. Of course not.

The positive reading is that this is the sort of great non-journalism thing that the times probably couldn't (quite) publish before it had a website, because it really needs all the color images.

What kind of paper did you get that didn't have the funnies? Our journalism always came with entertainment as well.

The NY Times never had the funny pages.

I love Christoph Niemann's pieces (and those of Grant Snider, who sometimes illustrates Sunday articles, not sure if he's ever been mentioned on Mefi). I think he's a talented artist, and I can't see that his work detracts from the NYT's journalism in any way. Thanks for linking to it here, Joe in Australia.

I love how human + ungulate = reindeer. Unnatural and delightful!
