Jim Gillette, best known for his work as lead singer for the band Nitro, and their hair-metal masterpiece Freight Train [Warning: Loud. Embarrassing. Potential and unexpected earworm.], has also helped out the Mythbusters, and now, the intent has provided his greatest gift; Vocal Power Voice Lessons.

i figure if you're wearing pants that tight you should bring a bag with you or something so you don't have to store stuff in the crotch.

Seriously, is that a codpiece?

Hi Jim, thanks for making Nirvana happen.

Also, there's a video floating around the tubes of my cousin absolutely nailing the solo to "Freight Train," complete with the usual band of idiots claiming it's sped up. I can promise you that it's not. Dude can shred like you would not believe.

you can combine the isolated scream clip with your number keys to make an impromptu jim gillette keyboard (once you get cursor focus on the video).

Holy shit, is that ever weirdly entertaining, mustardayonnaise.

More hair! More shredding! More guitars (who could forget the quad guitar)! I always say Britny Fox put that last nail in the coffin of the '80s metal explosion but Nitro is definitely a contender.

No, I think it's a whole cod.

yeah it's mesmerizing... I'm trying to find where I found out about it, but "jim gillette number keys" isn't turning up much (except, coincidentally, that someone posted it to /r/funny a few hours ago)

I saw Nitro live in a small club called Flash's in Cleveland sometime in the early 90s. I was still into shredding then, but these guys were already a joke. Three things stay with me from this show:

1. They ran out of songs to play and so they played a cover of Ted Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever" as an encore. They had already played this song as part of their set, so we heard it twice that night.

2. Jim Gillette's between song stage banter centered around how the band was definitely going to "make it". There's no way that anyone in the room believed this was true, not even the band.

3. After the show I met Jim G. and Michael Angelo. Jim Gillette signed my "H.W.D.W.S." CD booklet thus: "Mark, I fuck. Jim Gillette".

This is amazing. I love that. These guys are allegedly professional musicians, and they couldn't come up with just one more song to play on the fly? Any bar band in America could do that. I love it.

Those jeans. They can only be worn with that hair.

This guy's speaking voice is giving off serious 1980s Bill Paxton vibes. I keep expecting to hear, "Game over man, game over!"
