"this house has restricted airspace" - good pull-line that goes with the Schwarzenegger post from earlier.

(now sharing with my drone-building friends, naturally.. )

Here's the real movie Drone from 2015.

Meanwhile, they made the sequel Drones back in 2013.

How do you tell an ISIS training camp from a daycare?
How the fuck should I know? I just fly the drone.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a retired Special Forces commando living with his daughter's family in their home deep in the woods of Washington state. One afternoon when Arnold is watching his grandson so his daughter and her husband can go on a date, a strike team composed of his old enemies attacks his home seeking revenge. Arnold and his grandson take refuge in the elaborate tree house Arnold has built for the boy in the backyard while the bad guys lay siege.

y2karl: "And it's a bee !"

Close, but wrong. Not a bee, a beedog.
A weaponised beedog.
Tremble in fear.

Oh man, I hope this is real! I am so ready for internet-of-things horror.

Is it a demon? Is it an evil hacker terrorizing some suburban homeowners? IS IT JUST EMERGENT SENTIENCE THAT'S TOTALLY PISSED??

Who knows! Tech is terrifying! Awesome.

Yup, here's your problem, someone set this thing to evil. *throws switch back to good position*

The problem with this trailer is it's not too far off from the hysteria people have about these things. You can walk anywhere and be covered by 20 cameras. People playing with remote control devices are fun and interesting. Put these two hobbies together and people lose their shit the FAA wants to regulate the commercial aspects. Even on metafilter people were talking about shooting them with shotguns, reprogramming them, using drone to drone warfares, etc. Pretty much because people think they are bad because reasons.

dude, be fair: the drone to drone warfare part was just because it's cool.

Honestly, I mostly found this stupid. Except for the drone on the rocking chair. That part was wonderful.

I never find these "Don't worry about this terrifying thing since everything else is already terrifying" arguments especially reassuring.

Back in the day when some twit wanted to look into the windows of your house they might have to stand on a ladder. Now they can buzz you with something that sounds like an giant angry wasp. I'm not sure that this is an improvement.

The biggest difference is that when you're out having a picnic or walking along the beach, people with cameras not attached to drones don't have such a massive sense of entitlement about getting in your face to take a picture.

I am so ready for internet-of-things horror.

I forget who said it, but if there are enough CPUs running your house, getting hacked is functionally indistinguishable from being haunted.

So you have more of a problem with one form of illegal activity over another? Who cares which way they do this?
