"In the vein of 2048" reminds me of a pretty good post by the creator of Threes, the game 2048 ripped off.

Yeah might have been a good idea to include DISCLAIMER NOT REAL SCIENCE

The role of anti-matter in the game makes me worried that the long term trajectory of gameplay is towards free-to-pay games like candy crush....

you get two free antimatter to start, another if you rate the game, and it pops up randomly from time to time during play.

oh and a tip, can't remember if it's in the tutorial: if you have a + on the outer circle, placing identical atoms on either side of it will cause them to fuse, same as if you send it to the ring from the centre.

Bananium 7929...is that really an element?

ook.

I don't believe I had to look that up. Nope, no Bananium. What, like the names of elements aren't weird enough?

Lawrencium you glad I didn't say banana?

If you want REAL SCIENCE fusion there's always this version posted a year ago.

There is a ripoff game called 11+11 that is easier to pay because the numbers are easier to read, but I think it has a worse gameplay mechanism. Tradeoffs.

It was sad to see alicornium become a readily-synthesized commonplace.

Man, that tutorial was a waste of time. I have literally no idea how the game works. Help!

SRSLY, please stop.

Really? I'm scoring about 80. HOW DOES THIS GAME WORK!!?
posted by salmacis at 10:55 PM on July 3, 2015

salmacis, anywhere you tap on the outer circle is where the item in the middle will go.

Except:

Blue minus signs: you tap somewhere on the outer circle to send the atom you tap back to the centre. You can then reposition it elsewhere, or you can tap it again to turn it into a +.

White matter: tap any atom on the outer ring and the white matter will turn into a duplicate.

Placing a positive between any two identical atoms will fuse them:

A + A = B

If the two identical atoms have identical atoms on the other side, you can set up a chain reaction:

B A + A B = C

(Any chain reaction works as long as it's symmetrical: AA / BAAB / ABAABA / BCBAABCB etc)

when I was playing this a while back, there was a glitch that would sometimes cause an atom to retain the properties of the (+) atom after fusing. Basically you'd end up with a permanent (+) fusing everything in sight.I became much more interested in recreating the glitch than getting high scores, and eventually gave up the game in frustration.

What on earth makes the developers of games think that anyone wants to watch the same inane animation EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. A. GAME. ENDS.?

The better you do, the longer it effing takes for the stupid animation to run, so it's like this game punishes you for doing well.
