One of my favorite low stakes irl trolls is to casually and subtly fuck this stuff up around someone who really likes having their things symmetrical.

Like this one here? Pure gold. Every time you use the bathroom just give the scale a teensy nudge with your toe so that it sits off true. Guaranteed it'll be set right next time you're in there.

You can keep this up for a startlingly long time before they notice.

Even better is when you can do it right in front of them.

If you're out to lunch with someone and notice them do something like right the fork, "accidentally" let your glass tap it when you pick up your drink. They'll move it back. Keep up the conversation as a distraction and just do it over and over again until they notice. I think my personal best was 9 times back and forth before anyone said anything.

Who says "whilst" anymore? I ask you.

I'm an American and I sometimes use "whilst" as a bit of verbal flair in written communications. It's not pretentious at all.

That wedding hair is astounding. Must forward it to a drag queen I know.

Also previously (although with broken links. Here's a fresher link to the sample pages)

(I bought this book the moment I first saw it. It is so great.)

Symmetry Breakfast!

Why that site's not called "Breakfast at Symmetry's" I'll never know.

These are mostly about symmetry, alignment, fit, pattern, and repetition. Cuteness plays a big role; no surprise that a lot of them have an advertising feel as well. For some more general explorations of what "perfect composition" means in contemporary fine-art photography, the Perfect Likeness exhibition at the Hammer Museum is worth a look.

I would do this every time I came home from college, because my mother is an obsessive neat freak crazy person. The morning I was heading back to school, I'd sneak around the house and dislodge jar lids, unsquare piles of things, skew picture frames just so... It was very satisfying.

Ugh, why do I love those cube foods as much as I do???

Also WHAT #62 I CANNOT EVEN AAAAAAAAAAA

I used to over-organize things when I had a boring retail job, especially when I got stuck in one of the weird departments near the back where hardly anyone ever came and supervisors never walked by. Had to keep myself busy with something!
