The acquisition of Syosett, N.Y.-based Noodle Kidoodle will immediately increase Zany Brainy's revenue and store base, each by about 50 percent. The combined company will operate 163 stores across the country, but expansion plans are expected to push that to 193 by the end of the year. The companies, both founded in the 1990s, operate similarly by selling toys and games that often cannot be found at the larger chains, stressing non-violent and gender-neutral products.
