After a post from the blog "Raising My Rainbow" went viral, about a little boy named CJ who was planning to dress up as Bob the Drag Queen (winner of RuPaul's Drag Race, Season 8), for Halloween, CJ got a surprise buddy last night for trick-or-treating.

Did I ever tell you how picking Bob the Drag Queen as the winner of Season 8 showing that the most talented, deserving person can win a contest restored my faith in humanity until the 2016 election beat it back down again?

IT'S TRUE!

Thanks for sharing this. Of course, now I'll have "Purse First" stuck in my head all day so it's not a total win.

When CJ recognized who was at the door and wordlessly went in for a hug, the waterworks started here too. Needed that this morning. Thanks for posting!

I just saw (and shared) this on a friend's facebook feed and thank god it's still early in the office and there's no one here because I totally busted out crying.

I love Bob the Drag Queen, and this kid's mom rocks.

There's is so much shit in the world that it's absolutely essential to remember that you can always choose to surround yourself with the awesome because in the end that's all you need to get by.

LOOK I JUST HAVE A THING IN MY EYE, THAT'S ALL.

This was a magnificent antidote to the news, which is unbearable just now.

Me (in my head, about to click the link): This is going to make me cry.

*Click*

Me (as I watch the story): Ah, this isn't so bad. Heartwarming to be sure but my eyes are dry. All goo--

CJ runs across the threshold to hug Bob the Drag Queen

Absolutely. In fact, I want to take this opportunity to retract my comment about having the song in my head all day; of all the quick singles put out by Drag Race contestants hoping to capitalize on their fame (a decision I completely understand and encourage), "Purse First" is easily my favorite, and not just because Bob is my favorite contestant ever.

CJ's Mom posted an update on her blog.

Both boys were late to school this morning. “I’m just going to tell the office and my teacher that I’m sorry I’m late but I have a fun-hangover from being in West Hollywood all night with drag queens,” C.J. said as we pulled into the parking lot. He still had eyeliner and mascara smudged around his eyes.

CJ's Mom posted an update on her blog.

Oh, for heaven's sake, I just blinked back the tears from watching the video! “That’s the first time I ever cried because I was happy,” he said later. Hope it's not the last, C.J.

CJ's Halloween outfit is also an object lesson on how to do a tribute costume in a respectful and not-creepy fashion. A+++ for family support! I wish I had an uncle who would come do my hair for big events.

My job is not to make other people feel comfortable; my job is to make my son feel comfortable. And loved, strong, confident and important.

That is quite the family. (From the essay posted by Shmuel510)
