RIP Gary DeCarlo, who sang the lead vocals on the stadium classic Kiss Him Goodbye (1969). Billboard obit; No no no Newt (1996) (one of a zillion parodies)

Indelible song that will last long beyond most from that era.

"Kiss him goodbye"?! You mean, the song by Steam, the unofficial anthem of my high school class (of 1972) which hit the charts as we began life in our new school? Er, nobody (at least, nobody who was there at the beginning) calls this song "Kiss Him Goodbye". Please - it's "Na Na Hey Hey" and then, in parantheses, optionally, "(Kiss Him Goodbye)".

Is it wrong that I'm picturing a funeral where the whole congregation is singing "Na Na Na Na..." as he's lowered into the ground.
