Charles Martinet, the well-known voice of Mario, Luigi and Wario, has an Instagram account where he sometimes posts charming little videos of toys of the characters with improvised voices. There is a YouTube compilation of them....

MARIO: YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY!
LUIGI: CHILE TODAY...
MARIO: ...HOT TAMALE!
WARIO: WHY?

also!

WARIO: WHY DID THE LEAF CUTTER ANT FALL OUT OF THE TREE?

This was great. Reminds me of Karl Urban dressing up as Dredd for local comic cons. Just because he liked being Dredd.

I kind of want to hire him to just follow me around all day making Mario 64 noises and running commentary. Like, I'm doing something mundane like picking out fruit or climbing a flight of stairs and it's just "woo", "woah", "woohoo!" the whole time.

Actually someone just needs to hack together a sound module with an accelerometer for shoes that makes the Mario 64 walking noises with every step, and then escalates appropriately with the iconic Mario hoots and hollers depending on velocity, or if you're moving up stairs or leaping upwards. It could even make the heavy landing noises or butt-bomb noises if you suddenly dropped. Maybe you'd only get the full "Woo-hoo!" if you actually did a triple jump-skip.

It'd be the hit toy and bane of parents everywhere of the year.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Charles Martinet three times over the years. Once at E3 2005 where I beat him at an early version of Mario Kart DS, then again at E3 2009 where we played a demo of New Super Mario Bros. Wii together. Apparently this early version of the game was missing Mario's sound effect woo-hoos, so Martinet performed them live as we were playing.

Finally, I saw him at Megacon earlier this year. If you ever have a chance to meet Martinet at a convention and get his autograph, do it. He signs in character (and even asks you which character you want).
