So I guess this pretty much wraps up any possibility of gay Poe.

Well, this feels very Disney Channel; I have to say they nailed that. Star Wars, maybe not so much.

I didn't see anything in that trailer that would contradict gay Poe. I'd be a little surprised (though very pleased!) if they made Poe explicitly gay (or bi) in the cartoon, rather than just leaving it as a complete non-issue. Kid's cartoons have a lot of characters who just have no romantic attachments whatsoever. Plus, they're apparently actually getting Oscar Isaac (and Gwendoline Christie, yay!) to do voice-acting, so it's not like he won't have any input on how Poe is portrayed. And we know how he feels.

Dave Filoni created the series and will be involved, even if he's not gonna be the day-to-day-showrunner now that Clone Wars is coming back. Given Filoni's track record with Clone Wars and Rebels, I'm willing to give this the benefit of the doubt.

Yup, this. I think that Filoni is going to go down in Star Wars history as someone that has truly shaped and molded the prequels in nothing but good ways, course correcting from the films. I'm excited to see where this adventure takes us.

Clone Wars and Rebels have been consistently superior to the films (new and old). I say that as an adult who watched both series with their child. If that's not your thing fine but you may want to look elsewhere instead of threadshit.

It's my favourite Star Wars world-building. As far as I am concerned, the prequels are Filoni - Clone Wars and onwards with a slight bump in the road happening with Episode III. Episodes I and II, what episodes I and II. I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'll stand by my comment. I simply found the trailer to be puerile. But then I may have a different perspective from many here...

One thing to keep in mind is that the show is going to be one thing and the clips that some marketing executive approved for programming is another separate thing.

I imagine the commercial is something Filoni doesn't have TOO much control over. Probably some, but for the most part Disney is going to try to "sell" the show in a specific way to their target audience/viewers.

And that clip/commercial doesn't always mean that they're showing the best parts or portraying the story in a way that does service to the writers vision. It's about pulling you in, getting kids excited and if that means playing up certain things that only kids/children might enjoy, well that's not surprising for a tv series that is airing on Disney.

Liked the animation, but seems too kiddie for me. But I guess that's what Saturday morning cartoons are all about. Might watch this with the nephews though.

This show is definitely supposed to be marketed to the youths, so to speak, but then again, so was Rebels and look how insanely dark that show got at times. But then again, Star Wars doesn't have to be edgy, gritty, dark to be great. Some may prefer it that way, and that's fine, but if the animation put out under the Lucasfilm logo is anything, it's generally enjoyable for all ages.

This show already promises to have beautiful animation with extensive use of light and shadow (see Clone Wars as a ground breaking show to bring this cinematic use of light to the animated small screen in a big way), great world building in character design, ship design, and so on, and the backgrounds are non-static - there are things going on, people walking, droids doing things, ships flying by, that help make the animated world feel more real. Again, all of these are trademarks of LFL animation and why a lot of it is incredible.

I already love that Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie will be resuming their roles for the voice work, it'll add a level of authenticity (i.e., connection to the sequel trilogy films) that will make watching the show even more enjoyable. Leia will be on the show, and given that there's an emphasis on ship racing, I really think we'll get a Han Solo cameo...depending on whether this is before or after Ben Solo goes dark. In Bloodlines and elsewhere, it's established that Solo hit the racing circuit (more as a coach than a racer) around this time period. We also know Cardinal, a character introduced in Phasma is supposed to be in the show, which will be cool. For context, if Phasma oversees the last part of stormtrooper training, Cardinal oversees the initial part.

Filoni, by the way, is not the showrunner. He described his role much more like the role George Lucas had on Clone Wars; guiding it, but not exerting absolute control on the day to day decisions. Resistance's showrunner is Athena Yvette Portillo, one of the first female showrunners for Lucasfilm, which is awesome. The show also has an Asian coded lead actor in Kazuda, which is fantastic for representation.

But ultimately, here's the thing: if you're not interested, it's no big deal. As Star Wars grows into more mediums, shows, books, whatever, there's going to be products that simply don't appeal to everyone. That's totally fine.

I'm not that excited based on the writing of the lines in the trailer, but I watched Filoni's Clone Wars, and even though Rebels was more of a kids show and the writing on it wasn't usually as good as Clone Wars it slowly grew into a really interesting show. If Filoni's even tangentially involved I'm certain that this show will grow into something really good too.

It looks like it's aimed at kids, but it's on at 10pm. I'm puzzled.

This seems much more 'Freemaker Adventures' than "Rebels", but good point about the trailer being controlled.

Clone Wars is coming back.

I hope they finally do the Quinlan Vos / Asajj Ventress story that got nixed when the series was canceled.

I think any story that was already adapted into another medium will likely be off the table. That said, Dark Disciple is a good read, if albeit, a somewhat frustrating ending.
