Hugh Grant as Prime Minister : Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.

That might seem like a snarky comment so let me just adjust that and say it is utterly heartfelt and quoted here with all the love and insight possible. Love is actually all around, and this was joyous.

One of the best small things about being in a relationship of any kind, be it with an SO, kids or friends or whatever, is having people at the station/arrivals gate/wherever you arrive, actually waiting for you. Or standing there yourself, looking forward to meeting the person you're waiting for.

My 81 year old father still likes to do this for 53 year old me though he himself is not a demonstrative man. That is why I choose flights which are during slow traffic times. Knowing that someone cares enough to show up is very important.
