The feminist performance ‪#‎UnVioladorEnTuCamino‬, created by the Chilean feminist collective Las Tesis is being performed around the world. The name (trans: #ARapistOnYourWay) is a play on the Chilean Police's slogan "un amigo en tu camino" (a friend on your way), and refers to the multiple rape accusations against the police during the current uprising in Chile.

The lyrics created by the Valparaiso based group translate roughly to:

Patriarchy is a judge, who judges us for being born and our punishment is the violence you don't see.

Patriarchy is a judge, who judges us for being born and our punishment is the violence that you already see.

It is feminicide, impunity for the murderer. It's the disappearance, it's the rape

And it was not my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed.

And it was not my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed.

And it wasn't my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed

And it was not my fault, nor where I was, nor how I dressed.

The rapist was you. The rapist is you. They are the cops.

The judges, the state, the president, the oppressive state is a male rapist.

The oppressive state is a male rapist.

The rapist was you, the rapist is you.

Sleep innocent girl calmly, without worrying about the bandit, that your sweet carabinero watches over your sweet and smiling dreams.

The rapist is you. The rapist is you. The rapist is you. The rapist is you.

We've been in denial and I'm terrified of the things we're seeing, that we knew about. We're terrorized, traumatized, mutilated and hearing each other's narrations of the same basic hell on earth. The rapist, the torturer, the killer, they have a face now.

ipsative: "This gave me chills."
Me too. I've watched it 10 -15 times, but a lot of women I know say they've watched it on repeat for whole afternoons. It makes me angry, happy and scared simultaneously.

Here's a BBC video with subtitles.

Also this line 'Sleep innocent girl calmly, without worrying about the bandit, that your loving carabinero watches over your sweet and smiling dreams.' (carabinero=chilean police) is verbatim from the carabinero's official hymn. It just takes on a whole new meaning in a real world context.

Thank you for posting this and adding context.

The interview with the collective that is linked in the third URL in the post is worth reading, too (link).

Chilean police will take civil and criminal actions against Mon Laferte.
English - Spanish
Mon Lafarte staged a topless protest during the Latin Grammy awards held in Las Vegas two weeks ago and which was widely covered by the media.

I really don't get the Mon Laferte thing.. she said something in Las Vegas, US, shared it on Twitter, and somehow Carabineros has jurisdiction over it?

She is left. She is looked up to. She is a target.
The fascists want to be fascists, they are after her lawyer as well.
