When I was a widdle kid growing up in L.A. in the '60s, my parents' number one choice for 'splurge nights out' was Trader Vic's in Beverly Hills. They both enjoyed Scorpions in the BIG glasses while I filled up on Egg Rolls, batter-fried Shrimp and other appetizers. My first exposure to Teriyaki Steak and Pea Pods & Water Chestnuts, and the place we saw Walt Disney dining with several unidentified people. Not bad for an upscaled tiki bar.
