Gargoyles was nearly the center of a vast Disney Cinematic Universe

From the interview with Greg Weisman:
“Gargoyles is still my baby. I don’t own it. I don’t get a dime off of it being on Disney Plus. And yet I’m so thrilled that it is, I’m thrilled that it represents a chance — even if it’s a slim chance — to bring it back. I’ve always wanted to do more. I’ve got a timeline for the show that’s 315 pages long. I’ve got notebooks and comp books full of ideas for it. Spin-off notions and all sorts of things. Literally nothing would make me happier than to go back and do more Gargoyles.”
I would love for this to happen. Gargoyles is a show I put up there with Batman: The Animated Series with regards to the way it builds lore and establishes character. You feel for these characters and the story pulls you in. It has such style and confidence in its self. And it is full of charm.

This interview prompted me to start watching this with the fam - it's streaming on Disney +. It holds up.

Gargoyles was one of the few cartoons my dad actively enjoyed watching with my sister and I, so it will always have a special place in my heart. (Pirates of Dark Water was another)

That was such an amazing cartoon. I had such fond memories. It's a shame the series was cancelled and we didn't get the resolution or ending we wanted for that story. But it had such a fantastic animation design and voice cast.

It was such an odd show. Reminds me of ReBoot (or Beasties/Beast Wars) in that way where you had people making a kids cartoon who clearly didn't treat it like they were making a kids cartoon. I may just be a sucker for extremely competent villains with really good VA work.

Also that description of them deciding they wanted 52 episodes, being told no, and then just coming back after a month and saying "Nah, 52 episodes" was amusing. Because it makes it very clear the people on the other end had no idea what they were asking for.

I took some time off when Disney+ started just to watch Gargoyles, hoping it held up.

It did.

My wife, who was dubious about it, watched with me and got sucked into it, too, all the story and voice actors, and then the reveal about Owen...

We could use more of that (looking at you, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), I’m just saying, and less of certain shows (looking at you, Rick and Morty).
