I really do worry about the day when the 3D renders get good enough to start convincing me to give money to people for things they are definitely not capable of producing. Or worse yet, to buy cryptocurrency from people who are only capable of producing stylish 3D renders. They are very stylish 3D renders, though.

Gotta admit a Dodge Challenger looks pretty good with twin outboards.

I could see Austin Powers in an amphibious version of one of these.

I think it's a Charger? Either way, interesting choice to go with the General Lee paint job minus the confederate bullshit er, flag.

Are these supposed to be modifying existing cars or are they proposing plastic repops? 'Cause I can't imagine an original Charger or E-Type lasting even a season if you store it floating over (salt) water.

Y'know, it's really not clear from this text:

In the automotive world, a resto-mod is a classic car that has been restored, but modified with modern parts and technology. Aesthetically, the vehicle looks the same until you look under the hood, because owners will upgrade the engines on a classic car so as to enhance performance and increase fuel efficiency. Regardless of what features are changed or added, the ultimate goal is to modify the classic car without significantly altering its outward appearance.

Floating Motors envisions a new concept of boating, for the first time bringing into the water the shapes of the most legendary cars of the automotive history, inventing a new water mobility trend which we like to call “Resto-Floating”. Similarly to resto-mod, we strictly respect the original car model proportions and sizes, applying the most modern nautical techniques for the floating hull (catamaran, conventional or foil), and delivering an exceptional quality concerning construction materials and applied technology, for the longest durability into harsh conditions. Our products are top-luxury motorboats, shaped like mythical cars !

I suspect they want you to think that it is actual cars, but know it's more likely that they will need to provide plastic repros, but on the gripping hand, nobody there actually has any idea how to make these things at all.

So they’re boats shaped like mythical vehicles, but contain none of the original parts? Theseus will probably be interested.

I actually love the concept but, as presented, absolutely will not work. The stability of these craft will be awful and they won't look so cool floating upside-down, which is where they will end up in short order.

I wonder if they've been able to actually convince anyone to 'invest' in this? Logic says not, but there are plenty of fools with money, I guess.

A Messerschmitt KR-200 would be my choice.

I'm a Car Guy, I spent much of the 80's and early 90's flipping cars for a living, and I'm a Boat Guy, having built three boats.
If you want a car that floats, there's the Amphicar. Which kinda sucks as a car and really sucks as a boat.
These are just impractical and silly, if they ever actually make it past the rendering stage. That said, brachiopod has it. Give me a Messerschmitt KR-200 in ANY form and just take all my money!

Whatever floats your boat, car + boat (or boat + car) is not a new concept/reality:*Extra points for style.

One famous amphibious car owner:
Joseph A. Califano, Jr., the president’s (LBJ) special assistant for domestic affairs at the time, recalled his experience as a victim of his boss’s prank: The President, with [White House secretary] Vicky McCammon in the seat alongside him and me in the back, was now driving around in a small blue car with the top down. We reached a steep incline at the edge of the lake and the car started rolling rapidly toward the water.

The President shouted, “The brakes don’t work! The brakes won’t hold! We’re going in! We’re going under!” The car splashed into the water. I started to get out. Just then the car leveled and I realized we were in an Amphicar. The President laughed.

As we putted along the lake then (and throughout the evening), he teased me. “Vicky, did you see what Joe did? He didn’t give a damn about his President. He just wanted to save his own skin and get out of the car.” Then he’d roar.

I keep reading stories like this and wonder what sort of dumbass gets into a car that says AMPHICAR on the side and has propellers underneath and doesn't realize it is also a boat. Sounds like they were just sucking up to the puppy torturer.

Non "car-people" don't really notice what other people are driving. If you approach the car from the front or side you don't see the props and the fender script on the amphicar is stylized to the point that I know what it says and still have difficulty reading it so that's a weak hint even if you know what an Amphicar is. Even if you decypher it no one would expect flames from a Rocket 88. probing from a Probe, applause from an Encore or to see a Phoenix self immolate. Though I'd imagine many Gremlins had gremlins at least on occasion.

Even the fact that it was pretty weird looking wasn't nessicarily a hint; there were plenty [60 Valiant] of [Citroën Ami] weird [Messerschmitt KR200] looking [Starlight coupe] cars [Crosley Super Sport] in the 50s and 60s.

I was a bit disappointed with the Impala linked by cenoxo, just because it's a lazy effort of dumping a car on a pontoon although, if you're going to do that, it's a great stylistic choice.

A less lazy effort with a lot more speed - Farmboat.

I am unsure whether it is a joke or a scam. Since they’re proposing their own “crypto ‘currency’ ” I lean towards “scam,” but it seems too silly. Damned intertubes have ruined my skeptical judgement.

Not much thought has gone into the actual functionality of those designs, but they do know how to make a nice render.

The foiling bits are pure nonsense, as is the "suspension".

Here's the real deal electric boat platform, and it even uses a GM (Bolt) automotive battery:

Or for something that actually exists and really pushes the boundaries of electric-powered boats, the Jaguar Vector.
