Opplopolis (Twitter, previously) has begun updating again. It is a comic about a weird anachronistic city in which the fates of multiple people - and a completely different science-fiction setting - become entwined with something called Marvedyne.

From the creator of the similarly massively delayed Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life (previously, less previously, least previously).

In fact, I'm curious about something. When that second post was posted after a long hiatus from the comic, the site went down in a coincidental display of incredibly bad timing. If anyone here forgot to check the comic again, missed the third post about the comic and never found out how it ended in the (checks) TWELVE intervening years, please say so in the comments.

This is very cool. I like it. And so do I. And I.

I had so long ago resolved myself to the fact that I would never know how this story ended, never know if Pangolin escaped from the Back Stacks, never know what Marvedyne actually meant, never know why Quinton wears his cat mask upside down (that one may purposely never be revealed). And now finally after all this time, a resolution. And now I can report a renewed ability to imaging civilization surviving beyond my own timeline. The sun has risen and the glorious form of Marvedyne shines over the earth.

So, I’ve never read this comic, because I never knew of it. But, I really love the way the recap was handled. I was giggling all through it.

And I really could use a box of ZonksvilPM.

I had read and liked Nine Planets Without Intelligent Life a while back, but I'd also never heard of this. Thanks for the post, I started the first chapter and got sucked in and read to the end in one sitting. It's really good.

This reminded me to go back and finish 9PWIL after having it lingering in the back of my mind for so long. Thanks!

New to me, thank you. Like Like A Velvet Glove Cast in Iron and The Invisibles only somehow moreso. Like like.

I was going to post onto instagram that it was back.... but saw zero hashtags for #Marvedyne or #Opplopolis, got spooked, and didn't.

I LOVED NPWIL but had never heard of this, such an unexpected gift, thank you!

(i'd taken NPWIL to be an experiment the author wanted to finish but didn't intend to repeat as they had other stuff going on; never been so happy to be wrong)
