These stories have been around for years now. I think I wrote the first one in cuneiform.
Brian Reid, by whose students BIND was written, is one of the people behind Anglicans Online. So the organisational link between God and the Net goes back a long way, as well as the similarities — both being invisible, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and little use when you need a parking space. posted by alloneword at 3:21 AM on September 3, 2002
hmm. What happened to the em dash? When I previewd that post, it came out as a proper emdash; but after posting, it is just a box. Is this a known glitch, or is it a sign? posted by alloneword at 3:26 AM on September 3, 2002

Being an atheist and tried to click the link I cant confirm your theory about the 404. Maybe its a sign, about time to reconsider my believes. Nevertheless reconsidering my believes wouldn't have anything to do with me discovering god through the internet. posted by Dysleeper at 4:45 AM on September 3, 2002
this internet thing could really be a boon for god. no more convincing prophets to go out and convince others through warnings of doom and gloom. now god can create a mailing list and get the word out to everyone at once with a couple of mouse clicks. plus, once god sets up his or her or its email address, he or she or it will start getting those helpful "Stay erect longer!" messages, and will maybe do something about all the damned spam. posted by tolkhan at 5:41 AM on September 3, 2002

I love the title because it reminds me of a country/western song titled Heaven's Just a Sin Away. The strange part: the song was sung by a father to his daughter, who was at the time, about 16. posted by Postroad at 6:38 AM on September 3, 2002
