“It is great rotating food, and that is all there is to say about it”

Another Gallery of Rotating Food GIFs has 420 mesmerizing images of spinning food. Though it is undoubtedly the finest of the Internet Archive’s six galleries devoted to spinning food items, the others are worth perusing too. [via Depths of the Internet Archive]

Anybody up for some photogrammetry? I wonder if the onion rings and bacon would be too much for traditional algorithms, but I've never tried it myself.

Hah! I loved that the first few in that first gallery were lovely nicely plated sandwiches and then you get to number 8 and it's a cartoon popsicle dancing on its head.

Excellent.

Thanks for this, Katullus! Great fun.

(Also: whoa! That Depths of the Internet Archive account is fantastic!)

Not very mobile-friendly, unfortunately. Get your act together, internet archive! I need to swipe right for more gifs!

Four hundred and twenty of them you say? That's enough to give anyone the munchies.

This is the most old person question ever but, how does one copy and paste gifs into messages on your messaging apps? I have failed at achieving this many times.

On my iPad, at least, if you click on one of the download links to the side (under “animated gifs”) it opens in a separate tab. Then, if you press and hold, you get the possibility to copy the image. Then you can just paste the image into a messaging app.

Oh, also, if you have an Apple device of any kind, there’s a “share” button which you can use to send through messaging apps. It looks
like a little box with an arrow coming out of it, pointing upwards.

This reminds me of the ridiculously-high-fidelity rendering of hundreds of stat-boosting meals in Final Fantasy XV.

So last year they added an API to macOS called Object Capture and uh I’m sorely tempted to take these and convert them into AR-ready polygon models
