Tom Hanks talks to Guy Raz for two hours about his career and being Tom Hanks. That's it. That's what it is. But wow, it's really a lot!

speaking of his repeatedly disrupted childhood, divorced parents, constant moving, changing schools. and how ... "it kind of matches what I do for a living. Which is enter room and seduce all people in it."

Interesting talk. I still can't forgive him for Gump.

The story about meeting DiMaggio at a restaurant in nyc is cute, but he tells his secret of success, take a beat, show up on time and know the text. Which is more than memorizing the lines, he rambled along but having an understanding of the theme and how each scene supports the theme/objective at a functional level. Also Shakespearean acting is good training.

Also being in the right place at the right time when every single star in hollywood punts on a script (Splash).

≥≥I still can't forgive him for Gump.

I still can't forgive him for giving an evasive non-answer when asked if he backed the writers' strike.

Somehow, I have never seen Forrest Gump. It came out when I was in my 20s and didn't see many movies. I have no interest in ever watching it. But I have seen many of his films.

I was a big fan of Hanks from his Bosom Buddies and Splash days. He's become an icon of sorts, but I can't say I love all the movies he does. I'd like to read this, any transcript available anywhere?

Can I get a cite on this? Because this seems pretty unambiguous to me:

Tom Hanks joins Hollywood writers by going 'on strike' and draws parallels with 1980s

The 66-year-old actor, who is currently touring to promote his debut novel, said he is joining the strike in support of Hollywood writers. The writers' union has been striking over fair pay in the streaming era.
"So, I am a member of every guild there is and I am on strike because this is going to have to be determined.

"Not just for the future of the bread and butter issues that affect us all but also for the arts and sciences of motion pictures."

I like it when wealthy people understand the role luck played in their lives and successes.

Got this impression from this tweet

That tweet is one in which the first comment is the author of the tweet saying he manipulated the editing of the video. I mean, it didn't take much to see that. I saw it without looking.

People don't like Forest Gump now? When did that happen? I thought it was a beloved film.

Also, one of the weirder parts of the Qanon madness is they identified Tom Hanks as a major Hollywood creep. Which is really weird to me, considering how many actual creeps there are. Like, why did they zero in on Tom Hanks?

Because he caught COVID early and was public about it and that meant that the adrenochrome supply was tainted with COVID if he got it.

Sorry, I just watched a thing about this, like, yesterday. That's how I know that.

I listened to this and was struck that, for all his folksy persona, Hanks is quite smart about the craft of acting.

Thanks for the link, hippybear!
