They draw comics; they aren't stand-up comics

In late 2010, The 92nd Street Y hosted Al Jaffe, Roz Chast, and Robert Mankoff [1h24m] for joint presentations about their work and a question panel. The humor is dry, but the talent is gigantic and the lengthy Q/A is great.

You know, I've never seen Roz Chast outside of author photos, and have never heard her voice, but it turns out she moves and sounds exactly like I would've thought!

mittens: her Instagram is a total delight. She draws cartoons about her parrot!

Al Jaffe is now 102 years old! As noted in the video, he's been a professional cartoonist since 1942. Mind boggling.

The bad news is that Jaffee died in April of this year. He had a good long run, may his memory be a blessing.

It certainly wasn't intended as such, but the above exchange gave me such a chuckle because it seems so very Mad Magazine in a "well have I got bad news for you..." kind of way.

.

Thanks for the laughs.

He didn't pass, he folded.

Roz Chast came and spoke at our public library a few years ago. She was great!
