"Secondly, @dril's tweets contain references to various topics such as merchandise, horses, caves, and movies like Dunkirk. While it is challenging to pinpoint their specific career, their diverse range of interests suggests a broad knowledge base. Additionally, their tweet about their wife moving to the big Apple to entertain the idea of becoming "Rudy's Slut" hints at a potential involvement in the entertainment industry." -TwitterGPT takes any public Twitter handle and generates a quick, questionably accurate report and then helpfully suggests a book as a gift.

My wife's report included this gem, which we both found pretty funny:

One controversial topic that arises in @'s tweets is their criticism of imperialism, as seen in a retweet that includes the phrase "Fucking Imperialists!!"

That’s weirdly specific:

“ If you were going to get @redacted a gift, you should consider getting them the book "The Puzzle Universe: A History of Mathematics in 315 Puzzles" by Ivan Moscovich.”

I now want that book!

And of course, ran it on my own, and, well, it reads like a really poor manager's yearly review of me.

But this was funny:

If you were going to get [me] a gift, you should consider getting them the book "Sellout" mentioned in one of their tweets. They have described it as a "great book," indicating their interest in literature. Here's the specific product I recommend, Sellout by Paul Beatty.

It is really good. Um, TwitterGPT, I have both already read it and also own it.

To be fair the sellout by Paul Beatty is excellent however.

Holy crap I totally missed the author being different and it being an entirely different book with the wrong title. I tweeted about Sellout by Dan Ozzi, which is really good.

Well, it suggested that someone give me a copy of Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. And I haven't read it, so random bonus point there. Unsure as to whether a book from 15 years ago is the best choice, although I daresay things are no better now, probably just more complicated. It was as right as it could be, given my sparsity of Twitter activity. It made an insightful point about my politics, even if only by the same accident that mediums use (albeit much refined by the statistics of large data sets).

Now I actually want to read The Sellout by Paul Beatty, guess I'll have to buy it for myself.

"zompist's tweets exhibit a dry sense of humor and a tendency to engage in wordplay."

I guess that's the nicest thing a glorified Markov chain has ever said about me.

It seems to have a strong recency bias, or more likely Twitter doesn't let it access older tweets.

Regarding political allegiances, Musk's tweets do not explicitly reveal his political leanings. However, he interacts with individuals like Tucker Carlson, a conservative political commentator, and retweets posts from The Babylon Bee, a satirical conservative news outlet. This suggests a potential interest in conservative viewpoints, but it is important to note that these interactions do not definitively indicate his political affiliations.

I'm gonna say this thing is bad at stuff. It reveals its bad at stuff in more detail than I would expect though.

Who pays for it? What is their intent with it?

I doubt it.

Checking the linked site of the company of unclear purpose does bring up this:
What is FreedomGPT.com?

So they pay Elon Musk money for API access and they have a product that's chatGPT with more far right nonsense?

I dunno If we should be considering this thing cute.

On top of the Amazon affiliate, maybe a particular publisher has a thumb on the scale to have their books shows up more often.

I guess another theory is it's actually Twitter set this up to try to convince people that paying for access to the Twitter API is a viable business plan.

So I lurk here all the time, I have an account and I post every now and again. I'd like to post more but I try to ensure that I have a fully formed thought and that I'm able to follow through with this.

TwitterGPT takes any public Twitter handle and generates a quick, questionably accurate report and then helpfully suggests a book as a gift.

I hate this. I reject it entirely as a premise. I don't think this is cute or resulting in anything that will ever lead to anything good. I think that this is a cavity and we need to figure out what our dental plan looks like because damn, this this is what the hollowing out of things look like.

You want to know who can give you a good book recommendation? Anyone who works in the library. You can email them asking them for book recommendations. You can email them saying "hey, I love this twitter account, would you be able to suggest a book that vibes with their posts?" Do you know how much joy you might potentially give to a library team who will coordinate to give you an actual answer?

Geez, I'm blushing...
Firstly, @aceofwaggery demonstrates a keen sense of humor, often using hashtags such as #humor and sharing humorous anecdotes. Their tweets exhibit a playful and witty disposition, suggesting a lighthearted approach to life.

Secondly, @aceofwaggery engages with various users, including @TheBoydP, @mel_pollen, @InternetH0F, and @Bondcliff2008. This indicates a diverse network and potential involvement in different communities or industries.

Thirdly, @aceofwaggery shows an interest in music, referencing Stephen Tyler, the Doobie Brothers, and marrying a musician with a sense of humor. This suggests a possible affinity for the music industry or a passion for music in general.

Fourthly, @aceofwaggery displays a fascination with wordplay and poetry, sharing verses and lines from nonsensical poems. This hints at a creative and literary inclination, possibly indicating involvement in writing or literature-related fields.
So let's break this down:

1. Using the #humor hashtag automatically makes my tweets funny. Good to know. I should start trying that here!

2. I've interacted with four other accounts! Woo!*

3. "Stephen Tyler, the Doobie Brothers, ..." - That about covers the totality of music, ayup. Also, regarding "marrying a musician with a sense of humor": despite the persistent rumors, I'm not married to Weird Al Yankovic.

4. "fascination with wordplay" is certainly true, but suggesting literature-related involvement is a hell of a stretch beyond the reality of a simple affinity for Dad Jokes.

*Actually, Emo Philips has Liked TWO of my comments!! 🤘  🤘

If you were going to get @davery a gift, you should consider getting them the board game "Ticket to Ride." This game aligns with their interest in board games and provides an engaging and strategic gameplay experience.

I hate board games. This suggestion comes from the analysis "Based on a close examination of @davery's recent tweets, it is evident that they have an interest in board games and music. In one tweet, they mention not playing board games". I think TwitterGPT might need to go back to the drawing board.

Since Twitter is my main tool for getting book recommendations, I'm genuinely a LITTLE surprised that TwitterGPT didn't catch my interest in weird fiction and folk horror, and just recommended that I read "Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer because I tweeted in sarcastic frustration about my inability to get a vegetarian sandwich at the Atlanta airport. And "Eating Animals" is fine, but it came out ages ago, I've skimmed it, and frankly, the reason I only skimmed it is that I have been convinced for quite a long time to not eat animals (although I'm only lacto-ovo-vegetarian, not actually vegan.) I don't want to read a book to convince me to do something that I'm already not doing. (I mean, maybe I really am so smug and insecure that I need Jonathan Safran Foer to validate my life choices, but I hope not.)

That sentence you quoted was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. I thought the "questionably accurate" part made that clear. "Helpfully suggests a book as a gift" is so WTF to me (especially since it's clearly an affiliate link money grab) that I thought it would read that way to other people as well.

In short, I'm entertained by this, but it's not very good about sussing anything about me (except that I like basketball) and reads like every other AI generated didn't-actually-read-the-book book report. Posting it doesn't mean I think it's "cute". This is just a text version written to be palatable to humans of what every "you might like" suggestion generator and targeted Google ad has been doing for years.

I just don't see anything tongue in cheek about accurately describing what this is? We're in a world where this technology is being used to destroy people's careers and we have two massive strikes where the use of this technology is a major issue.

reads like every other AI generated didn't-actually-read-the-book book report.

I'm not going to threadsit on this. But like, yeah, this what I'm talking about. This is a llm that scrapes twitter that then generates an affiliate link. There is nothing in here that is reflective of anything inside. There is nothing there, there.

If you were going to get @greatdismal a gift, you should consider getting them the book "Neuromancer" by William Gibson. Hahaha. I finally got it going. Some of it is pretty accurate, but it faceplants heavily at one point.

In terms of political allegiances, it is challenging to determine @brundlefly's specific leanings based solely on their recent tweets. However, their criticism of reactionary and authoritarian ideologies suggests a more progressive or left-leaning perspective. They also engage with users who share similar viewpoints, such as @jordanbpeterson and @Cernovich, indicating a potential alignment with liberal or progressive ideologies.
