Let's get down to pigness!

Fact: if you open a pen of pigs with expected food at the end of a run, the pigs will dash down it to the food at high speed. Some pigkeepers in England decided to take advantage of this essential trait of pigness, and so they bring us LEAGUE OF PIGS, a series of charmingly over-produced pig racing videos, now beginning its epic tenth season! A few selections: the oval track, the most recent video, and a trickier idea to accomplish than you might at first think; racing through water; the most recently completed season and the first season, from two years back. hippybear made a post about the 9th season finals last month, but it turns out there's more fun to be had there!

The racing pigs are named: Ginger Hamilton, Hoshi Oinku, Pepper Sanchez, Bear Trotsky, and Piggie Smalls. Here are the ten seasons, divided into playlists. If you enjoy League of Pigs, the creators would appreciate it if you spent some money in their online shop.

If you like the idea of racing unusual things in general, you might like Jelle's Marble Runs. filthy light thief posted about it back in 2018.

Piglets. These are cute 'lil piglets. Full grown racing pigs is a little less radio friendly.

Source: my sister in law is a pig farmer.

They've been doing this for long enough, the same five piggies, that these lil cuties have to be full-grown by now. Probably a different breed?

Cute pigs aside, it is amazing they have created something which looks like it was created by an enormous and well financed production crew: commentators, post production, drone footage…

According to one of the videos, they are Kunekune pigs.

It is a particularly small breed which apparently was kept by the Māori people. It nearly went extinct in the 70s but is having a revival.

I've been enjoying League of Pigs since I stumbled across it a couple of months ago and I'm glad it's back!

Apparently the one constant from US county fair pig racing is that one is named "Piggy Smalls."

I think we saw Robinson's Racing Pigs here at a fair in NE USA. (Cute local news video linked on their page.) Or maybe it was Rosair's Royal Racers? (Delightfully authentic retro website design!) And here's a video, 5 min of true watching-the-race-at-the-fair experience, complete with patter and a very good sport standing near the camera going "HAH HAH!" at the puns!

Mod note: double

The previous post was about the ninth season, this one is about a new season with a few more details, so am leaving the post up.

pigs are surprisingly agile and fleet for their utter lack of aerodynamicity. and super cute!

Ooh, this new oval track is fun.

I haven't been to the Virginia State Fair in years, but my family is going next weekend, and my one non-negotiable is Rosair's Royal Racers. The puns! The crowd participation! The pigs!

Kudos to this team of porcine athletes and their intrepid support squad. I am Team Bear Trotsky, but everyone involved is perfect in their own way.

Thanks for the post JHarris. It’s been a stressful week and watching a few of these in the back yard has been some awesome therapy for me!

Don't know about being a genius, and hippybear posted the first video a month ago. I'm happy that you enjoy the post though!

Somehow missed hippybear's post, and only getting to this one now, but this is delightful!
