Celebrated part at table
Part in memory -
Neither Ancestor nor Urchin

Seems it to my Hooded thinking

Had There been no sharp subtraction
From the early Sum -
Not an acre or a Caption
Where was once a Room
Not a mention whose small Pebble

Unto such, were such Assembly,

The parade is at its best when it makes you feel like you have a low-grade fever. I’m still not sure if I actually saw the shucked performance or if my vaccinations are repeating on me.

Other parade thoughts before I had to avert my eyes:
- Chicago as the Wonderbread soundtrack is perfect.
- My entire extended family booed when the NFT floaty showed up
- We are 10 minutes away from a phone that just fabricates a group photo of your family on holidays to save on effort
- Best theory proposed on the neon cheerleader outfits is that it’s defensive coloration to confuse predators
- Nashville country on the Louisiana float is a crime
- Perhaps, the parade being a once-yearly binge of popular culture and commercial assault is not entirely positive for my mental health

Many years ago, a friend who used to work for Macy's in Colonie NY told me that attendance at the parade was mandatory for all employees. Don't know if that's still true.

My teen-age daughter was pretty flummoxed by Chicago...and then Bell Biv Devoe came on and she just gave up.

Moments ago, during the parade, I, along with most of the rest of the United States, learned about the musical Shucked. I may never recover.
