"Altruistic endeavours by an army of Trevors"

"The aim of this website is simple. It's to gather the global wisdom, skills, experience, empathy and generosity of those who share this name, to do good stuff as far and wide as possible, for people across the world with the first or last name TREVOR." Trevor Cunningham told the Guardian about setting up the website and support network Trevors Together.

We apparently have 27 MetaFilter Trevors (actual name or username element). My friend's cat is also Trevor; he is on neither MetaFilter or TrevorsTogether as far as I know. Dark Greener names says 0.0016% of babies born in 2021 in the UK were called Trevor, more than halved since 1996.

The problem with Steve Trevor is that he keeps dying. It's his defining characteristic.

For whatever reason Reddit keeps showing me posts from subreddits like /r/nick and /r/adam where it is all about people with that name posting stuff about their names or people with their names. I have no idea why they show up on my feed, I'd think Reddit would know what my name is and not show me the subreddits for other ones.

My name, Tariq, isn't a particularly common one here in Canada so growing up no one knew about it. After the Gulf War however Tariq Aziz became someone everyone had heard of so it helped me somewhat in that maybe people would know how to say my name. Not a great name to be associated with though. I've never had the urge to see what other people with my name are up to or to team up with them.

I have a Cousin Trevor, who is even older than me. He is in a small group that meets at the gate of the Russian Embassy for an hour every week protesting against the invasion of Ukraine. They wave Ukrainian flags and sing the Ukr national anthem and write messages on the embassy driveway.

Me: My word-a-day feed delivered a Phil Ochs quote today and I thought of you:
You must protest / It is your diamond duty / In such an ugly time / The true protest is beauty

He: Thank you for the Phil Ochs poem. I read it at our protest today and it was greatly appreciated. We had a Christmas celebration with lots of food. I used the intercom at the gate to invite the Embassy to join us but they blasted the Russian national anthem at me.

This and magnetic bike fellow are just what I needed. <3 MeFi.

My favourite Trevor is, technically, a Trever. I'm sure the truespelt Trevors would find a place for him though.

I’m still mad at Trevor because of what he did to Kevin Parker.
