Chasing the orange fish, no net

Explore the undersea world of the Florida Keys off the dock in eight feet of water. I love a good snorkeling experience and this live webcam fits the bill. Bonus points for the VIVA THE KEYS spreadsheet that confirms my fish I.D. book sightings over the past several months. Yes, those are double-crested cormorants diving after the gray snappers and parrot fish (trigger warning because they do occasionally catch their meals).

I do love the teal blue lips and eye shadow on the rainbow parrot fish. It contrasts so well with the orange body.
This winter the bluestriped grunts were out in force. Now the jacks and mojarra have taken their place.
The local goliath grouper made an appearance the other day. He likes to chill under the dock at night. So do the barracuda (a large one just swam past).
And while I was typing this, our friend the nurse shark casually glided through.
Oops! There goes a crab!

Man, if I could snorkel every morning, I would.

Double-crested cormorants, not double-breasted cormorants.
It's a fish, not a suit. (Correction has been logged).
Carry on.

I also have to get back down there. I don't feel right unless mangroves are nearby.
