Unusual (or not) Music and Art (or not)

Freenoise. "This site exists to provide information on 'unusual' music and arts; the word "unusual" being easily replaced by 'unconventional,' 'non-mainstream,' 'underground,' 'extreme' or by any one of a dozen other useless labels." This includes such projects as Cock E.S.P., Wrong and the fascinating Panelectric Living Sinema. The link page is of particular interest, as it could open up a whole world to the uninitiated. I wish they linked my favorite bug faced noise band, Winter Carousel.

Here's another link in that vein from the folks at alt-x.
There's quite alot of free, downloadable and/or streaming sounds beginning here. Enjoy.

What about Venetian Snares? Doormouse? O.V. Schirac? Nautilus? (most of those available at planet-mu)

Yeah, this list is certainly missing some good stuff, but in all fairness, this type of music is so hard to categorize that it's impossible to make an even remotely complete list.
Head over to the brainwashed links page for another nice big list of links. The planet-µ links page has some good ones too. Here's another good list that i came up with after a quick google search

Some of my favorite parts of noise include:
NoiseMp3 is an ok site.
But BlackHouse has been described as "christian" noise. It's really good noise/industrial tho!
As well the unfortunately now defunct Broke Bunny internet mp3 label who specialized in whacky "amateur" music (including Cock E.S.P).

iDEAL Recordings have released three installments of their MP3 show. Well worth a listen.
