Does that mean when I kick a giant mouse in the butt I'll be a political prisoner?

Maybe they are just trying to blend in with the shopping public.

one might ask the same thing about this thread.

oflinkey, that is one of the denizens of The Dolliseum. Or you might enjoy Yuri Kigurumi in a similar vein. I thought they bore a striking resemblance to the picture of the police mascot. Seems to be a trend. We Blorters are hip to these things, you know ;-)

Just think of how many firearms and how much armour you can fit inside one of those costumes! Who wants to bet that pictured officer has a bazooka hidden in there?

I'm still wondering what the hell this Dolliseum is about. Are these people... acting out anime characters, like uberdorks do LARPs instead of playing oldschool RIFTS?

Man, being a nerd just isn't good enough these days apparently. People take it to such extremes...

(i find people that do LARPs and the guys that dress up in Sailor Moon outfits to be HIGHLY disturbing. Unless someone can tell me otherwise, the odd people underneath these eerie plastic doll faces are going to get lumped in that pile..)

OMG - the look on the kid's face makes the story for me

What's really disturbing is...that is a male police officer.

People can be strange when it comes to living their anime fantasies. It is a terrible thing to behold, oh ye obsessed with turning your life into a cartoon.

A local shopping center down the road has (or had I'm not sure if they still do) where if you parked in a handicap zone without a handicap disc, then a guy in a giant gerbil suit with a sign reading "I parked in a handicap zone" follows you around as you do your shopping.

PenDevil, hilarious!!! Has it decreased the number of people who park illegally in handicapped zones? That is an excellent solution!

i have a friend (cough) who worked in a burger bar and had to dress up as Mr Wimpy
and appear at kids parties and go outside meeting young thugs who would promptly roll mr wimpy down the hills of princes st gardens.

Spencerinc: Yeah it got people to move to move their cars but if I recall it was stopped when the Gerbil got attacked by one person he was following. It's a dangerous job...

Dunno, I'd park there just to get exclusive use of the gerbil ...

From the photo caption:

Selected police officers were tasked to wear mascot costumes as they patrol the shopping malls in the capital to make their presence less obtrusive and more friendly.

To make their presence less obstrusive they dressed security officers up in giant, Disney on acid cosutmes?

And just ask that poor wailing kid how friendly these cops are. Creepy.
