When Washington writes Blair's autocue. For those of you outside the U.K. a very funny clip from Rory Bremner, about the only satirist left on U.K. television. (Real Video Stream - 'Blair & Campbell Autocue').

I'll forgive the fact that you used the words "Rory Bremner" and "funny" in the same sentence, and get down to the assertion that Bremner is about the only satirist left on UK T.V. I'm guessing that Ali-G (Social Satirist), 2D2V, Dead Ringers, Brass Eye, Mark Thomas and that other UnFunny impressionist whose name I can never remember, don't count.

O.K. Seanyboy, point taken. I should have said political satire, and I wouldn't have put Ali-G in that category, as much as I love his early stuff. I think Chris Morris is a genius but Brass Eye is not currently on the box (nor are most of the others you mentioned), and satire doesn't seem quite the right term for him either. I suppose I was thinking about satirists dealing directly with topical political issues and there are currently not very many of them on t.v. Bremner has done some pathetic stuff in the past but I think some of the recent Iraq-dominated programmes have been very strong indeed.

Brilliant! Thanks, rolo. I really enjoyed The Maths Professor too.

This may be heresy, spazzm, but I've used RealOne daily for almost a year now (I listen to BBC Radios 4 and 3 all day) and it has never failed me.

i was wondering if anyone would post a bremner link - rolo is spot on - some of his shows have been dire in the past, but his recent shows have been really biting, funny stuff, and well worth watching.

Man, Blair must really be an embarassment for the English at this point.... Almost as much as Aznar is for the Spanish.....

Not so much embarrassing as really, really puzzling.

...and scarily calm and self-assured in the face of constant and unremitting hostility to his plans.
