top score for the Philip Glass level? posted by Espoo2 at 7:35 PM on March 3, 2003
Oh dear god...people play a version of this in arcades?
I felt like I had to be hyped up on speed just to get through the Mario (lowest difficulty) stage.
I'd imagine if people were playing this, rather than just using their fingers, they'd actually die. Or split their pelvis. posted by Be'lal at 7:52 PM on March 3, 2003
*racking my brain* what film did I see FlashFlash in? Please tell me, it will torture me otherwise. posted by Shane at 7:59 PM on March 3, 2003

It took me at least five tries before I even understood what I had to do. Then when I finally figured it out, well, let's just say that that is one crazy place.
sorry shane, i can't help you. :( posted by ashbury at 8:02 PM on March 3, 2003
i was hoping for something with a bit more toplessness. posted by fuq at 8:04 PM on March 3, 2003
Been playing this for a while, and enjoy it fully. I'm up to about 5 )'s so far able to make it to the end.
I'm not sure if the arrows are hitting at the exact moment of the beat...
Just anxiously awaiting the version 2 which is supposed to be coming soon. That and Desert Combat .3 mod... posted by askheaves at 9:16 PM on March 3, 2003

WHOA, celldweller and ZAO, sweet. I didn't expect that in a dance game (under rock)! posted by tomplus2 at 9:41 PM on March 3, 2003

ok, and a quassi-doublepost.. i'm going to bed. sorry about that. posted by tomplus2 at 9:44 PM on March 3, 2003
the fact that you get a miss for stepping when there is no arrow makes it basically zero fun for me. my keyboard keys bounce and my computer is too slow to do insane flash like this, so I lose out because of my framerate. and there needs to be two control schemes to make the jumps fun.
of course, I'm a big DDR snob who plays full-fledged PC simulators of the game, so... posted by kevspace at 10:42 PM on March 3, 2003
Uhhh, isn't that flash game exactly the same as frequency, just less... flashy?
Not that it isn't PILES of fun. FUN FUN FUN. Especially online. Oh yeah! posted by shepd at 12:13 AM on March 4, 2003
yep, same game, different URL. the game has changed a bit since then, but not drastically. The game has some flashy new graphics and new songs. It still chunks my computer to no end, and i'm guessing that's because it's written in flash. The performance is so bad that only people with 1Ghz+ computers can score in the top10.
I had a itch to write a program similar to this, except it would be written in C# and use DirectX - thus making the program run very fast. I never finished the pet project, of course, but maybe now i'll take a second look at it. posted by escher at 12:20 AM on March 4, 2003

Hit the appropriate key just as the rising arrow hits the top of the screen. That's it! posted by Witty at 2:39 AM on March 4, 2003

The real arcade version -- where you stomp the arrows with your feet and try not to spiral off the machine into the gang of 13-year-olds waiting to play it -- is indeed very fun. This version is like a motor-skills test in a doctor's office. posted by lisa g at 6:19 AM on March 4, 2003
i love playing ddr. i haven't played in like a month, maybe that's what i'll do with my day off :)
i play at home rather than the arcade though so people won't laugh at me posted by mabelcolby at 10:13 AM on March 4, 2003
