Forget iPods and mini iPods. This guy is going large and wants to build an mp3 player into his new bed. I'm sure you're saying this has been done before. Well, not quite. This is a bed that looks like Luke Skywalker's landspeeder decked out in tan suede. '70s junk meets 2004's latest technology. But can we point him to a solution to his mp3 playing problems?

"Of course, it would have to be no ordinary PC. The screen would be embedded where the radio is now, and it would have to be a tiny retro green-CRT display, about the size of an ATM screen. And it would display information about the current track in DOS-prompt style (although some green visualisations might be nice)."

It's like case-modding with blankets.

that's the funniest bed i've seen in a long time--it needs a waterbed instead of a regular mattress tho, I think--for full 70s coolness...why doesn't he just put an ipod in there? (also, he'll have to turn around to see the screen anyway, so why put a big screen in at all?)

I bet that the bed is really the *clincher* when he brings home a nice girl.

A Mini ITX system with a 12inch LCD display, wireless internet. Put slackware linux on it and use these plugins this person used in his car.

It all depends on how well you can configure and install the mod. If you get this far you might as well use it as a server.

Wait, a bed that's Luke Skywalker's landspeeder and runs Linux?

That's too cool. No, seriously.

So, Matt, do you want to trade him an account for a bed?

You know, when you examine this comment carefully, it's sortof frightening.

(Even though this *is* cool)
