On behalf of metafilter, I decline this award in protest of the working conditions of child labor factories in India.

*sends fake indian broad to accept award in our stead*

If Instapundit is really the best political weblog out there, then the terrorists have truly won.
posted by XQUZYPHYR at 9:35 PM on March 15, 2004

What's more, Instapundit won more of the green stuff than we did! Are we really worth that little?

nice fat prize too! i knew one day this mefi thing was gonna pay off big. i await the check in the amount of $0.0001166812 representing my equal share.

I didn't get shortlisted this time (or even nominated, I guess (best weblog by miraculous poultry?)), so it sounds like sour grapes when I pooh-pooh 'weblog awards'. Pooh!

I will say that fairvue.com still has the swankiest darn design going, I reckon, so there's something.

Hooray for us and stuff, though.

Q, since you're so beloved around here, you can have my equal share as well. God bless us, every one.

And Howard Dean is $61 richer tonight. Yay!

I'm happy that Jeremy's Antipixel.com won because it is one of the best out there, bar none.

Well, that explains that damn camera crew from MTV Cribs at my door this afternoon. Never before have I felt so self-conscious in the use of the words "pimp-tight" and "scrilla."

It is only right! I look at a lot of these things, but metafilter is the only one where I click the "comments" link without feeling the need to fulfil some sort of basal, masochistic desire.

Remember that thread about The Death of the Handjob? The announcement was premature-- these awards are definitely mutual masturbation.

"where everybody is invited to post," eh?

Do we even, like, technically qualify for this award?

I never thought I'd peak this early. When we do get to appear on Behind The Blog?

When we do get to appear on Behind The Blog?

In early 2004 Metafilter won the Bloggie for "best community weblog," and everything seems great... But there was trouble on the horizon...

well fuck.

Having sponsored two of the categories, I'm now feeling significantly poorer. But yay! Jolly good show MetaFilter, wot wot.

I also heard we achieved world peace. Is that true? Only something like that could be more important than this... award.

While I thrilled for the wins by MeFi and a couple of my favorite blog type people, having celebrities and campaign blogs intermixed with the work of regular folks who just happen to blog well feels a little off. It feels like the deck is stacked, like a Best Director Oscar race between Joe Blow, Joe Schmoe, John Doe and Steven Spielberg.

Now, are we all going to share the Pony and pass it around, much like the Stanley Cup? I for one can't afford the feed, and I don't want to kiss the pony. Others can, however, in my stead.

Weblogs where everyone is invited to post.

Or just a select 17,000....

But yay us!

Matt should use the money to buy pancake mix...

We should send an Indian woman to refuse it.

Seriously, aren't web log awards sort of lame? Isn't it pathetic to even make note of winning it. This entire thread is uncool, even in its studied self-deprecation.

Shit, jonmc beat me to the politically incorrect Marlon Brando allusion. I hate that.

Screw that. I want a large blue "I'm number 4448!" foam hand.

Especially if I can get one with 4448 fingers. That would rock.
