Truly tasteless. Fascinating to read all of the comments.
On the other hand...you know, I don't think anyone would condemn someone who perished in, say, the Salem witch trials. An LJ diary of a "witch" presented in this manner would likely either be ignored, or enjoyed by a small group of people. I seriously doubt anyone would condemn it, or even call it "tasteless."
My guess is that because, relatively speaking, Anne Frank is still fresh in our memory, it IS considered tasteless and condemned. In other words -- there are still people alive in our world who lived through the Holocaust/WWII/etc.
I think that time is the key here. In perhaps 200 years, this won't seem quite as bad. But for now - yuck. posted by davidmsc at 4:01 PM on June 11, 2004
That's great. It's been a while since a funny fake LJ. posted by xmutex at 4:11 PM on June 11, 2004
'Jesus loves you, but Anne Frank thinks you're a jackass."
Oh man, I love me some edgy comedy and damn, the HoluKast graphic is totally crazy. Funny, but oh so tasteless. I love it. posted by mathowie at 4:25 PM on June 11, 2004
Jeez. The comments had me almost in tears. Nice find. posted by eyeballkid at 4:28 PM on June 11, 2004

I got a cat, and then I laid down on the attic floor, and gutted the thing. I drew a pentagram on the wood, took of all my clothes, and laid down in it. I was chanting things when my father walked in. Son of a bitch.
I read it, and while I wasn't offended, I didn't think any of it was funny. posted by precocious at 2:03 PM on June 12, 2004

You are the sickest person ever!! Turning the Holocaust into a joke! That's like making a joke about how everyone died in Sept. 11 but worst!! I hope your parents are proud of their sick child!

I am not sick! I'm just Jewish. Besides...
What's the difference between 9/11 and most King Kong movies? In the King Kong movies, 1,999 less apes die!
Shouldn't you be here my old rabid pal, bitching and screaming at the fact that someone made a comparison to Nazi Germany? I thought it was you who was so sorely bothered by "Holocaust propaganda." Transparent, hypocritical, pathetic - I give you scarabic.
On another note... I remember all the fuss raised by amberglow after 111 (I think) linked to some anti-gay loonie. I'm looking at mathowie's endorsement of this particular link, and wondering - if I bitch enough about how offensive it is (and it is plenty), will he go back on his words just like he did with 111's link on MeTa?
Oh well... One Abu Ghraib LiveJournal coming right up. I bet *that* would fly real well here. Keep at it, folks, I have faith. posted by Krrrlson at 10:12 PM on June 12, 2004

That's probably true, DrJohnEvans. And two hundred years from now, it will likely elicit the same type of laughter that the Python skit does now. posted by davidmsc at 4:33 PM on June 15, 2004
