A Shadowy Museum of the Outre - "Good evening, and welcome to a private showing of paintings, displayed here for the first time. Each is a collector's item in its own way - not because of any special artistic quality, but because each captures on a canvas, suspends in time and space, a frozen moment of a nightmare." Ha!! I used to sneak out of bed to watch this show. I love it. Still have nightmares though. Oh well.

Oh my. That show used to freak the shit out of me when I was a kid. Looking at the pictures, it all comes back to me. Pickman's Model? Nightmares. And funny how I was able to remember exactly the painting that was from the "Camera Obscura" episode. I don't remember the episode that well, but I sure remember that that picture scared me, and picked up on it instantly as the one I remembered when I saw it on the page...

Weird. I had a dream (or nightmare, I guess) about this last night. Not about the TV series, but about the paintings. And I've never seen the paintings before this was posted here. Creepy.

Heh, the painting for "A Fear of Spiders" and the story that went along with it, viewed at about five or six years of age, started my thankfully-only-two-and-not-eight feet down the road of lifelong arachnophobia. Night Gallery was a terrific show. Thanks Mr. Serling, and you mischief for making sure I'll have ... familiar ... nightmares tonight.

In a somewhat dissimilar vein...

Awesome post. My older sister used to make me watch this show, and the old Twilight Zone, as a little kid. I think that's why I'm kind of a fuck up.

And, Jaroslav Gebr.
