I saw them on the Independent's bill a little while back, and grabbed tickets as fast as I could. Cheers!

In ~1993 I attempted to translate/explain Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) to an attentive room of German teenagers when I was living overseas.
Nickel bag of funk indeed.

I saw this in a local paper back in April. IIRC, there will be a "Best Of" album as well. I can't listen to audio at work. Apologies if this was in the FPP.

Wow - happy news indeed.
A couple months ago, I listened to both their albums for the first time in almost five years. IMHO - Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space) has not aged particularly well. It soundeth a wee bit too bubblegummy to me. Blowout Comb, on the other hand, is still riding (WAY) high in the Brooklyn sky.

I agree that Blowout Comb is the better album, but I like them both. I remember seeing them when the first cd came out, and the single was just starting to get popular. There were a bunch of acts on the bill, and when DPs came on (with a live band in addition to a dj) a bunch of them were standing by the side of the stage, scowling skeptically. A couple of songs into the set, though, and they were all dancing. It was great.

Great stuff. I bought Butterfly's Cherrywine a while back hoping it would be his old form. It was not.

The first Digable Planets album mentioned here came out a year after my cat was born (that's 1992, album in '93). Can my cat then be considered legendary? (She is old enough in cat years for "blues legend" age--and, come to think of it, is black and was born in the rural Mississippi Delta. So . . . well, I have no idea what that means, but it's interesting.)

You're all idiots. Digable Planets were just ripping off A Tribe Called Quest. And Tribe were just ripping off Afrika Bambaataa. And he was just ripping off...*fast forward*...and those guys were just ripping off the first group of cavemen who banged some rocks together and called them "drums"!!!
Hey, jonmc doesn't seem to be around. Someone's got to pick up the slack.

A hip hip group's cred kinda goes down a few notches when their reformation is announced on NPR.
Actually, it was announced at least a month ago, though MTV surely has less cred than NPR.
