Only Nixon could go to China.

I'm sure most main-stream democrats would avoid her, whereas republicans, (it seems to me) are much more able to overlook hypocrisy in their own ranks as long as message discipline is maintained.

But, I don't think it can be, as long as Carey is unrepentant in her pornographic ways. I could see her getting a state-senate seat in California or something, but the base won't support her for anything higher.

one can rely on a fpp from the brave Mefi warriors, for whom no piece of political minutia is small/mischaracterized/irrelevant/petty enough that it can't be used to try to score points.

Dios: flag it and move on. Or post it to MeTa if you're really offended. Either way STFU. Your basic complain is that this article looks bad for republicans, and that too many embarrassing-for-republican posts are posted here. Well guess what? Most mefites are liberal, and we get a kick out of laughing at them when they do something silly. What's wrong with that?

For publicity reasons he affixed his company’s name to a pro-Republican ad in the Wall Street Journal, then received an invitation and paid for two $2,500 tickets. National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Carl Forti admitted as much to the AP and said, “Their money was donated to the NRCC. The NRCC’s job is to elect Republicans. not really. kickass pictures contract girl, there have been many different publicity stunts involving her which is the only reason anyone knows who she is. her sex scenes are described by a lot of folks as "lifeless" and a good reason for the fast-forward button.

I have never seen anything with her either. I only know this much because I am fascinated by the porn industry and it's fanbase and regularly read rec.arts.movies.erotica

Some more outrage for y'all wondering where the outrage is:
Bob Knight of the Culture and Family Institute says her participation drew lots of criticism from the pro-family supporters of the Republican Party. "She's obviously just doing this for publicity and trying to make a name for herself," Knight offers, "and she's made the point that the pornography industry is huge in this country, which it is." As to Carey's argument that she pays taxes like most Americans, Knight says, "Well, I'm sure mafia hit men pay taxes also, but that doesn't mean they're upstanding members of the community." The CFI spokesman understands what Carey and her producer are attempting to do. "What they've done is use it as a vehicle to try to embarrass the president, try to embarrass the Republican Party, and just get publicity and become celebrities in their own right." The pair was not invited -- but Knight contends GOP leaders were lax in addressing the problem. "They should have acted swiftly, I believe, and said 'We don't want your money. This is not what we stand for; we honor marriage and family. You guys are using this as a platform to promote just the opposite," he says, adding that the GOP should have refused to sell Carey and Kulkis tickets to the fundraiser.

She was at a fundraiser, right? If you pay the 1000 dollars or whatever for the dinner, you get to attend. People don't really ask questions. If a Klan member wanted to attend a Democratic fundraiser, I imagine that he would have little trouble if he was willing to pay the 1000 for the dinner.

Blaming a party for who supports them is pretty silly. I bet you can find contributors to both parties who are child molesters, pornographers, rapists, etc.

Mary Carey wants to have sex with the Bush twins
"Presidential porn star Mary Carey told me something about the Bush Twins during my interview with her late late late Sunday night (she called me at 12:45AM). It was something she promised me I wouldn't report until AFTER she attended the president's dinner the other night, lest she be uninvited. Here's goes:

'Oh my God, his daughters! I’d LOVE to party with his daughters. I’d love to meet them. I totally want to have sex with them. You can write it the day after I leave here.'

Yes, Concerned Women for America, your little White House had no problem with this. (Not that I do, but hey, it's YOUR family values White House - NOT!)" [AMERICAblog | June 16, 2005]
