Thor rolls a joint

I wonder why the photographer's girlfriend didn't end up in any of the shots.

A filter? Thor, of all people, needs a filter?.

Thor needs a rye and coke.

It may be that I just woke up and rolled out of bed, but that was hilarious.
posted by kbanas at 5:10 AM on July 15, 2005

'tastic! :-)

Captions would have helped, though...

@VulcanMike - not a filter, a roach; it stops the end of the joint collapsing during use.

Two thoughts:
1) no baccy? Wo - major head-rush!
2) what's Thor's lifespan in joint-years? What would our lifespan be in joint-years where the joint is half our height?? :-)

Isn't it a bit demeaning, as the Norse god of thunder and lightning, to be lighting up your warrior-sized reefers with a tea light?

My friend's mom, while taking a science exam back in the day, had to answer the question:

What is a torr?

She couldn't remember, so she wrote:

"God of tunder."

The professor gave her full credit.

NinjaPirate, that's obviously a mystical cauldron. It's clear somebody doesn't know his Asgard from his Midgard!
posted by kimota at 5:45 AM on July 15, 2005

I thought it might be a sacred everlasting flame, but I haven't seen that version. Must be from this season, because I'm a bit behind on my deity fashion accessories.

Thor's always been a fashion victim. F'ing goldielocks.

So THAT's how he finds the Rainbow Bridge to Asgard!

Americans take their's unadulterated, thank you. Don't try and cut it over here or you are going to get some mean looks. That is until everyone is loaded and forgets there was anything different.

(Oh, PS do not try and put tobacco in someone's pipe or bong, bad idea)

Pretty well done, if you like this, you might also like the Unseen War photo set.

Chunder, now why would you want to go and ruin a wonderfully complex and thoroughly tasty joint with some of that nasty tobacco crap?

Dude, that's a uniquely British abomination.

But, then, heck, the Brits are so foolish as to smoke soapbar. Only thing more disgusting than that would be to smoke dogshit. Shudder.

Ever hear of a Philly blunt, G?
posted by ZenMasterThis at 12:05 PM on July 15, 2005

You don't use the tobacco from the cigar in a philly blunt. You remove all the filler and use the skin in lieu of paper. Some people might mix the filler back in, but not from what I've seen.

The part that ruins the taste?
posted by InfidelZombie at 1:06 PM on July 15, 2005

The skin is just convenience. If jumbo-sized, durable, pre-formed zigzags were readily available, they'd be used. They're not that easy to find, but cheap-ass cigars are a dime a dozen at the 7-11.
posted by five fresh fish at 1:37 PM on July 15, 2005

I thought the skin (wrapper?) was used to make it NOT look like a joint, so one could smoke it in peace on the street?

Oops, sorry 'bout that; I thought I stopped my browser in time.

But the British tobacco is for convenience - if pre-sliced, dried and rolled basil was readily available, it'd be used.
posted by NinjaPirate at 2:27 PM on July 15, 2005

NPR did a story on how to roll a joint? Thor smokes rolled pesto? Man, I really DO have to quit smoking this stuff...
posted by bloomicy at 2:47 PM on July 15, 2005

I've always thought that if you didn't want it to look like a joint, you'd roll it like a cigarette. They even make devices to do the rolling for you. My impression on blunts is they were mostly kids' stuff: the old "I'm a badass, look at the size of this joint" idiocy.

Ninja, that was just a dumb thing to say. The British tobacco habit is simply because the Brits have notoriously poor taste. Soapbar is the definitive proof of that. You ever read the list of ingredients in that shit? It includes anything, including turpentine. Read this thread from Overgrow. Disgusting.
posted by five fresh fish at 3:20 PM on July 15, 2005

Thor needs a rye and coke.

If you mean real rye whiskey and not that Canadian stuff, why would anybody ruin it by mixing it with sodapop? Or maybe you mean a little TOOTSKY on the side, which mixes well with herb & booze (but is best reserved for special occasions).

[It just occured to me that I don't need a SMALL CAPS tag; I can use a < small> tag and then just type in the capital letters.]

I repeat: rye and coke.
posted by stavrosthewonderchicken at 6:08 PM on July 15, 2005

Sorry, what -- you want to smoke a cigar stuffed with pot in public?

That just can't go well.

I mean, I'm sure I've seen it in Toronto or something, but we're talking about the Nation of Puritan Oppression. I think a joint that huge would make it mildly obvious what you were doing.
posted by blacklite at 7:24 PM on July 15, 2005

I should think so. Likely would impress the girls at the party, no? It's like the guy funneling beer. Manly sized stuff, y'know. Big-ass joints. Big stereos.

Some men are rather like peacocks.
posted by five fresh fish at 9:00 PM on July 15, 2005

i knew some people who smoked pot mixed with mullein ... said it enchanced the buzz ... it did kind of give it an extra spaceyness ... but tobacco's just nastiness and i smoke, too ...

i don't know about rye and coke ... i say a guy like thor deserves some fine straight sippin' whisky like jim beam ...

Hmph - looks like it's time to emigrate! Never tried *not* mixing in the eveil leaf - pot's far too expensive to burn willy-nilly ;-)

Of course, that probably explains why the masked villain in one of the Scary Movie films got his stoned mask on so quickly... I though he was just a lightweight! :-)

That makes no sense, chunder: you're gonna have to inhale the same amount of THC, regardless whether it's been adulterated.

If pot is expensive for you (a boggling concept; I thought the UK was awash in the stuff), I suggest vapourising. Far more efficient, and healthier to boot.

Burning a joint destroys something like 80% of the psychoactive ingredient: too hot, too fast. Vapourisation doesn't destroy the THC, so you need far, far less bud.

Well, definately more popular in Europe than here. In fact, the only people in the states who mixed are Europhiles.

I literally stunned a room in Vienna when I dared to suggest using pot instead of tobacco (mixing with hash) while they rolled.
