Can't get past 4 (no hints for me!)

There are hints?
posted by state fxn at 5:51 PM on January 24, 2006

rather similar to http://www.frvade.com/ recently posted.

Stuck on 4 as well. What hints?
posted by Meredith at 5:56 PM on January 24, 2006

Hints are on the blog
posted by Suparnova at 5:59 PM on January 24, 2006

The fact that they require question 3 in lower case, when in fact it should all be in upper case, indicates they haven't put quite as much thought into this as they should have done.

Does the "B" in Level 4 remind you of a company's logo? One that makes sessalgnus (spell it backwards), maybe?
posted by cerebus19 at 6:08 PM on January 24, 2006

This thing apparently has upwards of 30 levels.

Have fun, I can't into stuff like this or it starts to interfere with my drinking.

"get" into...
posted by tcobretti at 6:09 PM on January 24, 2006

It ain't Flash, and it's just YAOHPG [yet another obsure hypertext puzzle game.] Meh.
posted by ijoshua at 6:13 PM on January 24, 2006

Thanks cerebus. On six now. I'm horrible at logo recognition.

I know what level 5 is referring to, I just don't know how to tell the page that I know.

(help?)

Please refer to my comment here.

usethisspace.asp

If you try his full name, they give you the right answer.

Aha! Thank you.

Level 10: "see something wrong? set it right."

Great advice, but I don't see anything wrong...
posted by Meredith at 6:28 PM on January 24, 2006

uh, anybody got 7?
posted by mrgrimm at 6:29 PM on January 24, 2006

Yeah, grimm. Change 7 to 8.
posted by thirteenkiller at 6:36 PM on January 24, 2006

Meredith, check the filename for the image. Doesn't quite match...

Okay, I'm officialy clueless - not Bausch and Lomb or Bolle.
posted by tellurian at 6:45 PM on January 24, 2006

(That said, I'm stuck on logo recognition for 10.)
posted by metaculpa at 6:47 PM on January 24, 2006

I'm about ready to give up at level 12.

That said, at least this game makes marginally more sense than the last one; seems like you have a much better chance of actually figuring out the answers yourself in this one, instead of trying to make bizarre leaps from one obscure reference to another to another to another to another.

Gator: Look at the images (the rightmost three) and think of a song.
posted by MikeKD at 6:53 PM on January 24, 2006

Heh, yeah, I got it right after I posted that. :) Up to 15 now, but it 'pears to be a logo I've never seen.
posted by Gator at 7:01 PM on January 24, 2006

Uh. I know what is wrong with level 10, but I can't figure out how to fix it. Can't change the source and fiddling with the url gets me nowhere. I think I'm not computer savvy enough for this.
posted by Meredith at 7:02 PM on January 24, 2006

Nevermind. Got it.
posted by Meredith at 7:04 PM on January 24, 2006

I'm stuck on the logo part of level 10.
posted by x_3mta3 at 7:05 PM on January 24, 2006

me too. At first I thought "Pan-Am" but that's not it. I feel like it's an airline, but I looked at all the airline logos and nothing. Grr. I like the logic bits better than the brand-recognition bits.
posted by TonyRobots at 7:32 PM on January 24, 2006

Try contacting someone at Number 10 to see if they can help with level 10.
posted by MikeKD at 7:34 PM on January 24, 2006

Try a car brand.
posted by tracicle at 7:36 PM on January 24, 2006

I got it x_3mta3; it's not an airline, but slightly more down-to-earth conveyance.
posted by TonyRobots at 7:39 PM on January 24, 2006

Oops, wrong level...damn. And I thought my clue was cute, too.
posted by MikeKD at 7:41 PM on January 24, 2006

Gator: think cellular.
posted by Meredith at 7:50 PM on January 24, 2006

It's not Flash.
posted by aerify at 7:57 PM on January 24, 2006

Yes!

After an unspeakable amount of googling, I've finally found the logo in 15. What an obnoxious set of puzzles in an otherwise charming game.

If you're as frustrated as me, here's a massive hint, that also happens to feature a naked man doing a cartwheel.

I'm actually struggling with 18. I don't do text-messaging at all, so I have no idea.
posted by Gator at 8:34 PM on January 24, 2006

sigh. stuck on 8.
posted by carsonb at 8:54 PM on January 24, 2006

stuck on 11. I feel retarded.

Everyone else figured out level 9 with no trouble? Poor me.
posted by librarina at 10:52 PM on January 24, 2006

I have to know about product logos to proceed? No, thanks.
posted by lupus_yonderboy at 11:37 PM on January 24, 2006

level 9 seems like it has more clues than you actually need. As far as i know, you should just be able to ignore the numbers. Focus on the "text twist" part of the puzzle. If it helps.

what's the deal with those numbers anyways?
posted by sambosambo at 12:27 AM on January 25, 2006

carsonb: Look carefully at the road. You'll find a hard-to-see clue.
posted by FormlessOne at 2:22 AM on January 25, 2006

So what about these sunglasses then?
posted by tellurian at 2:41 AM on January 25, 2006

Oh great! I suppose you've all finished it and gone off to more interesting threads.
posted by tellurian at 4:22 AM on January 25, 2006

tellurian: I left 15 overnight, and still don't recognize the damn logo. some of us might be here for a while.
posted by carsonb at 4:44 AM on January 25, 2006

tellurian: there are actually 2 letters incorporated in that logo...
posted by chrisubus at 6:12 AM on January 25, 2006

Can anyone give me a hint for 23? I've tried every combination of software compression tools and i'm going crazy!!
posted by anomie at 9:14 AM on January 25, 2006

Yeah, grimm. Change 7 to 8.

damn. i thought i tried everything with seven or eight. i feel stupid. ;(o--<
posted by mrgrimm at 9:40 AM on January 25, 2006

Argh, stuck on 19. Any help? =(

codeofconduct: notice the keys are scrambled ... what if you typed out the login printed on the image using that keyboard?

Gator: the letters on those keys spell something. you don't have to know test messaging, just know what letters are on what phone keys.
posted by ManicExpressive at 10:39 AM on January 25, 2006

anomie: You have the right idea, but you're missing a file. Look at what it's telling you to keep the same, and what part it isn't...

ManicExpressive: I assume you're having the same problem I did - they hid the source code clue in a different place this time. Look at the top of the source instead of the bottom.
posted by Simon! at 10:51 AM on January 25, 2006

Simon!: Wow, that's hard. Thanks a bunch!
posted by ManicExpressive at 10:54 AM on January 25, 2006

Simon!

THANK YOU!!

I would have been at that one all day. (Wait, I was!)
posted by anomie at 11:06 AM on January 25, 2006

Manic, thanks! I figured it out about five minutes before I checked in on this thread.

Stuck on 26 (red pill). Argh. I was going to sleep hours ago.
posted by litlnemo at 6:58 AM on January 26, 2006

litlnemo: It's almost impossibly hard. Google for the 3-4 of the names printed around the circle. When you've found where they're from, Google for that place and "orange." Let me know if you need more.
posted by ManicExpressive at 11:47 AM on January 26, 2006

I got it. A clue: movie title. Goes around like...
posted by litlnemo at 3:10 PM on January 26, 2006

Well, book title too, actually.
posted by litlnemo at 3:10 PM on January 26, 2006

And now... I've finished it. This one actually was kind of fun. I did have to use clues (especially for the logo ones) but it really did not take very long.
